Is this the last OLP record?

I think Matt Good is decent... but just for kicks, I do prefer Dave. By far.

there was bad blood between raine and mike...

as for las tcd.. :Lots of bands have families and side projects but still continue as a band.

I would love for OLP to remain a band and release records, butnot if it becomes silly.. youknow how you see some bands and go, they are still around when they should of hung itup...

I know that no matter what we will still have some kind of work form the guys.. I always said I could see Raine going more production wise after this ends. I can see Duncan giong back to maybe film( since he studied it in school) and with Jeremy and Steve.. Both are extreemly talented they wouldn;t hurt for studio work or get in another band,.,

I think we should just enjoy OLP and not speculate when they will end.. Wether it is thier last record or not I still love this band. They have brought many years of enjoyment to my life...

Define good music. In the definition you give, is it what "you" feel is good, or is it a standard definition we are all supposed to go by? Should a band make the same kinds of albums over and over just because that is what people want, or should they make the music that they enjoy and are proud of?

True. What I'm referring to is:

I think Good Charlotte are awful but they just keep pumping out the crap. Nothing I can do about that now is there?

The question at hand is whether you think this will be their last album. It has nothing to do with whether you think it should be or not.

The other side of the argument is that there is probably loads of unreleased material that OLP could put in some sort of package for the fans. Also, I don't think OLP would go out without saying goodbye to the folks who have supported them for so long. In any case, I'm going to try and answer my own question here. I don't think OLP would start over with a new label so after this deal is done, I wouldn't be shocked to hear that they sign some sort of distribution deal to get the rarities or greatest hits stuff out into circulation.

But I'm not confident they're going to go back into studio to record a new record after Vampires. After this touring cycle is over (which should be 2 years), the guys will have to go into studio again and at their rate of recording who knows what circumstances will be when they get out. They might have already prepared for this in this recording session (they said they have like 40 songs).

But will they record a brand new original album? Does anyone see Raine belting out Birdman into his late 30's? I have my doubts.

Aw hell, I'm really pumped after these clips. OLP is back.

umm... why do you assume they're going to release all of their rarities, and previously unreleased material? No offense to OLP, but you make them sound like they are the nicest people in the whole world who do everything and anything for their fans. The fact is the only way anything rare is going to touch our hands is if they suddenly need the money in 10 years.

Raine might not be belting Birdman in 5 years, but he'll more than likely still have the ability to belt out the stuff they're making now (and on gravity) that is geared to be easier on his voice.

I mean personally, I don't care if they end their career. It was a good one, but there is a lot of other music out there and lots of it is better than OLP.

Ha! You make it sound like the only reason a band would release rarities is because they're "nicest people in the whole world who do everything and anything for their fans."

Hey, it sounds like you know as well as I do that OLP's fanbase is fixed and aging. That means that unreleased stuff is worth something now as opposed to 10 years from now. But then again, loads of bands just end up sitting on unreleased material without a label to put it out. There's no "fact" about how rare or unreleased material gets put out anymore than there is an authority on such facts residing on this message board.

Also, when I asked rhetorically if folks could see Raine belting out the Birdman in 5 years, I was trying to draw attention to how ridiculous it would be to see some dude in his late 30's conjuring up the primal anger of his early-twenties (to say nothing of songs like "Innocent" that wouldn't stand to benefit from an older man's rendition). But then again, that's been done too. I just don't see Raine doing it.

I actually think this next OLP album has the potential to stand out in a busy release schedule of rock heavyweights (NIN, Foo Fighters, DMB, Pearl Jam, Audioslave, Oasis all have releases out this summer). There's loads of good music everywhere, but here we post about OLP's good music.

I still think it's conceivable that the well is about to dry up, but I think we'll probably get a farewell tour and a greatest hits/rarities package for them to bow out on. And I think that would be a good thing.

you took the words right out of my mouth. Also if McCartney can still sing Beatles songs over 30 years after the band broke up and bands like the Beach Boys still playing why can't OLP still do older stuff.

Egotist--- what is your obession with their age?..Who cares. I am older then the band I still listen to their stuff. I still listen to lots of things.I grew up in the 80's and I still love those songs. I still dig alot of the newer acts coming out..
Age is just a number.. It is all about attitudes and how one feels..

I said this earlier-- I have many fond memories of OLP and look forward to the newer stuff.
they could also release stuff independently .. It seems you are ready to put OLP to bed before they ever woke upl..

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

Well, personally, I'd hate to see OLP go. Contrary to popular belief on this board, I don't think their music after Spiritual Machines is that bad that I would hope to see the band to disintegrate at this point. Even I'm not deluded enough to think they'd go back to the days of Naveed and Clumsy nor would I want them to.
And if I don't make it known that
I've loved you all along
Just like sunny days that
We ignore because
We're all dumb and jaded
And I hope to God I figure out
What's wrong
