Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

omg because i said that, i meant i'm not stupid about where their direction is going and what their new album with inevitably sound like and what they want it to sound like. two TOTALLY different things bro. anyways, i'm done, this whole thing is more played out than 'ice ice baby'. *shakes hands*.

kermit__35 wrote:raine going off and doing something different has nothing to do with the band's sound. they've simply evolved, as many other bands have. U2, pearl jam, oasis, all of these bands have continued to evolve and change. growth is necesary, without it they'd end up being Creed! i don't think the world is ready for that. gravity has many traits that could be found on their older stuff, it was just a little too polished, but ti's still decent. i'm not prepared to give up on the band just because they released ONE bad C.D (i wouldn't even go as far as calling it bad, maybe mediocre).
and i don't think that the band would have used Brendan as their producer for Gravity because they were probably just trying to get away from the sound on SM and Hapiness...

ironic because OLP actually sound more like Creed now. But anyways, i think the stripped down sound could have worked well. Brendan has done seevral "stripped" down records including Incubus's. Bob was just way to polished and generic. Brendan definatly pushes artists to new hights where as Bob pushes for more simplicity for mass consumption. He would even tell you so, just in diffrent words. Which is fine and dandy for most music fans, i undertsand most people don't like alternative and diffrent music, they're not part of our little club. But many of us here just feel a lot of resentment to see our old favorite band leave in such a mainstream direction. With few qualities to save it, and split it from the rest of mainstream rock.

You hit the nail on the head for Gravity........Bob really did seem to simplify OLP to near retardation.

But before we start the anti-bob rock bangwagon again lets actually wait to hear what they've accomplished with far more time and effort than Gravity (which isn't a bad album despite its simplicity...its just less creative)

Bob Rock does simplify but really, does anyone complain about Metallica's Black Album......that was simpler and it rocked people's socks...
