Producer Raine Maida

Post by Long Jonny »

Well, it seems as if Raine is really starting to launch is career for post-OLP. He produced and wrote a few tracks for the new Kelly Clarkson album.

I'm not trying to make it a big deal or anything, but do you think this really could be the final OLP record?

I wonder how these songs are going to sound like. I guess he did the same work then on Lavigne's and Kreviazuk'S albums. Raine also sang on the Neverending White Lights cd, that didn't come out yet.

Kelly Clarkson!? That's just fucking wrong.

Even if she is talented, he should be focusing his skills to help artists who actually deserve a career in music and not some girl from a reality TV competition.

American Idol.

Ughh, Kelly's a nice girl and all but I do not like her music. I'll take Avril over her any day.

Never thought I'd say this but Raine is starting to go down musically. :( *Sigh*...who knows? Maybe the songs are actually good.
And if I don't make it known that
I've loved you all along
Just like sunny days that
We ignore because
We're all dumb and jaded
And I hope to God I figure out
What's wrong

The only reason I could see him working with a person from American Idol is: Money. It's just gotta be another job for some extra money. Unless he's retarded and likes working with rediculously lame artists when there is way better talent out there.

Okay, so this probably all came about around the same time that Avril's album was being made. I say this because Avril Lavigne wrote (or co-wrote) the song breakaway(which has gotten really annoying). And Ben Moody also worked on the album who got a lot of press for doing Avril's album too. If you have heard any interviews with Avril recently she raves about Chantal and co. If Kelly Clarkson hooked up with Avril for a song, then she probably hooked up with Ben and Chantal for the same reason. And with Chantal comes Raine.

None the less its a little creepy.

I was watching the 2000 I&I recently and it seems sort of funny and just a tiny bit hypocritical that back then they used to talk about the dumbing down of society and such, and it was not only in their music, they put together Summersalt of bands that didn't really fit into that catagory. Now, Raine is producing the offspring of a televised karyoke contest. Something seems wrong with that.

I have to say though, I don't think it really matters much. Getting production credits will give him a lot more credibility and awarness in the music scene, more specifically the american music scene. So meh, he's not telling us to listen to her.

Insert Gravity discussion here.

It's all about the cash and making a name for yourself. It can also further OLP's popularity with the teenyt boppers cause all the lil girls will recognize Raine's name from the Kelly and Avril cd's and flock to buy his stuff.
Let's face it guys, since Spiritual Machines (I don't care if you guys say it's amazing blah blah blah) they have gone towards a more commercialized direction. I saw it coming from the day Life was released as a single.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

I think his work with Avril also infect the way OLP write their new songs. ‘Vampires’ really sounds Avril-ish to me.

This isn't the discussion I wanted though. Putting Clarkson's crappiness aside and all, do you think this could be the last album? It seems as if Raine is already beginning is career for post-OLP, and it is becoming less of a side project now.

Naw. Even so, he's still "Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace"

They'll pump out a few more albums yet.

and Life was crap.

I think for the sake of OLP's name and legacy in Canadian music, they should stop after the next album. They've jumped the shark big time.

Personally, I would like to see them put out another 2 or 3 albums, but I just don't know if that is going to happen.

I think their is just too much going on in their personal lives for them to be interested in making music anymore. Also, since Raine is now focusing more of his time on producing and working with War Child, it seems as if OLP has been put on the backburner.

What I could see, however, is them putting out this album and then taking a long break- four or five years- and then making another album.

Or maybe a "reunion" style thing a few years down the line
which, of course, will crash and burn
