I actually enjoy life, though it might be the worst song on SM, i'd say if it were on Gravity (not taking into account how much different it would be) It would probably be one of my favorites from it.

I am not too surprised that someone said Clumsy was their second worst. HO and LYD are very simple songs, but i enjoy them alot. I suppose if i were introduced to OLP with Happiness or SM i would feel the same, but jesus... I can't tell you what is was like the first time i listened to Clumsy straight through. It was spectacular. It is also what OLP reminds me of. If i had to say what OLP's best was, it probably wouldn't be Clumsy... however, Clumsy is still probably my favorite cd by them.

I think "Let You Down" is one of the best songs on Clumsy, actually.

I like "Life" a lot too, and it's definitely because of the two guitar parts (the solo is one of my favorites, but Mike doesn't play that interestingly enough). I personally think "Mafia" is the worst song on Spiritual Machines. Never did it for me (at least in comparison with the other 9 on SM), and believe it or not, the version they did on the recent tour (the DVD version) is my favorite version of the song, if only because it's different. Despite this, it would take an album of "The Wall" proportions to supplant SM as my favorite OLP album. The album is the perfect length, and the songs are all great.

Anyway, in OLP new album news:

From Alternative Addiction:
Canadian rockers Our Lady Peace posted recently on their website that their follow up to "Gravity" is slated for a June release. The still untitled album should be sending its first single to Radio later this month.

Cool :)

Has anyone actually looked at the official website? Because I did, and I saw no such news.

Yes, I did, and I also saw no such news. But hey, it's a source on the new album, it rouses conversation :freak:

later this month... the only thing that really catches me with all of this 'June Release' stuff is that they should definetly have the title worked out by now if that is true. And if the single is slated for later this month, shouldn't we have atleast heard the album title by now? or even single title?

I was thinking that too. There is the possibility that everything is worked out and we just don't have the info yet, however.

I remember that I didn't know the name of the first SM single ("In Repair") until like a week before it was played.

I hope the album title is weird.

Has anyone ever noticed how flat the singing on BBTS is? I don't mean that it's just a little flat that someone without any musical training probably wouldn't hear but I mean I-can't-believe-they-actually-put-that-on-an-album flat. Don't they have acousticians for that sort of thing? :wtf:

It was recorded in one take. All they did was throw in an orchestera in the back and left it to give it a live feel. Expect album 6 to be a lot like BBTS in that respect.

Indeed, but that's a bad way of looking at it. Its still a good album, but I prefer Happiness..., Spiritual Machines and Naveed.

I'm sure you understand that I really love those albums.............Clumsy just has songs I love.....

anyone who thinks Gravity is better then Clumsy deserves to be shot. Seriously, it's not even a matter of preference, because gravity offers nothing more artistic then clumsy.........

I agree that art is subjective, but you have to draw the line somewhere. As a fan of Naveed, Happiness and SM, it seems rather absurd to place an album like Gravity over Clumsy.

I gotta agree, but if that's a person's choice, then so be it. It shouldn't really matter to any of us how someone feels about an album.

Definately. I just think that a possibility here is that their view of Gravity is being skewed because it's hard to admit that one's favourite band is going down a bad course. I "liked" Gravity when it first came out, but it disgusts me now. I was holding on to it with the hope that it was actually really good. Turns out it's just okay. The fact that it's OLP now amplifies any goodness in it, causing fans to think it might be comparable to or even better than the other albums. It's hard for a fan to look at an artist's body of work objectively. There is such a thing as objective quality in art, but people can't see through what they like. We like OLP, so it becomes harder to see the true nature of Gravity.
