mike helped write 3 songs, by no coincidence they are my 3 favorite songs from the records.. really the only 3 i really listen to on it. SOT, BBTS and SAG.
the rest would've been all raine. i'm not saying steve had anything to do with gravity because we know he didn't. my point is that the music he is playing is either written by mike or less complicated then what mike writes, so how could steve be playing "more complicated music" then mike?

Steve can play more complicated music by adding so much more to it. The intros, the solos, the energy, it's all so much better than what Mike had in the band.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
The point I was making is that you can't judge Steve based on Gravity. As said, he had nothing to do with the writing of that album. Everyone here is comparing Mike and Steve strictly on their live performances, not their writing abilities because there is no basis for comparison. They are playing the same material live so saying either one is better than the other is fully justifiable. If you want to complain about Gravity being "less complicated" than the rest of the albums, don't bring Mike and Steve into it.

as a Turner loyalist who saw the band with Steve, i feel i can comment on both sides of this issue.
simply, the first four albums were better, at least in my opinion, and i think in the opinion of everyone who does not want Our Lady Peace to sound like Creed.
Mike Turner left Our Lady Peace based on "musical differences", so it seems to me that he did not want to make "Gravity". Had Mike stayed in the band, and gotten his way musically, who knows what would have happened with that record.
regarding Steve's playing: i am not a guitar player, and barely even a musician, so I can't say definatively which of the two is a better player like some of the more presumptious people on this board. but i will say that since Steve has joined the live show has been turned up a notch.
i'm going to adopt the "they're both good in their own way" opinion, with the idea in mind to wait and see what the first album with Steve as a full fledged composer on it sounds like.

I was incredibly depressed when I found out Mike left the band. I was even more depressed when I heard about their search for a new guitar player.
But now that I've seen them live with Steve, and even had the opportunity to meet and talk to him, I gotta say that he is awesome. He's a great guitar player and incredibly nice. He's also cute as hell. I love him.

don't look now, just keep watching the TV hating what's too see waiting for someone to say something that's right.

I wasn't sure if I was a Steve fan until the other day. My proof came when someone was looking through my pictures and saw the one of me and Steve and criticized him. They said he was ugly, which is so mean to begin with. Well, I couldn't help myself and started yelling at them about how he was an incredible guitar player, and so talented, and such a nice guy. Well, after I was done my rant and the girl was speechless I realized I must be a Mazurite, to get offended over the tiniest criticism like that. But let me say, I was SUCH a Turner fan in the day, and still am. I almost cried when I found out he left the band, in fact, I think I actually did cry, but don't tell anyone that..hehe. Mike was great, and he'll always be great, no matter where he is, but Steve is awesome and the man of right now, and I'm happy to give him my support. And I think he'll sound great on the nice album.

first off next time I see Steve I will have to tell him about the MAZURITES on here. He will get a kick out of that.
okay for the bigshot on here about what Mike did, didn't do.
Mike played Rythm guitar on the following tracks:
innocent, sorry, and bring back the sun.
he help write: all for you, bring back the sun and story about a girl.
Jamie Edwards played guitar on the CD. I think by the time Steve came aboard most of the Cd was recorded or written.
I have to say this. I saw OLP with MIke, I saw them with Steve Both add something to the live shows. The band is lucky to have been bless with not one, but two brilliant musicans guitarist.
No offense to Mike, because he's a brilliant musican in his own right, but you guys need to get over it all ready. Mike is gone, Steve is here.
I look at it like this. OLP is a machine. One of the parts got replaced, but the machine still works.
I always said that OLP are a coparation sort to speak. It is the end results that should matter. No how they got there.
True I love OLP the band and I love the 5 men who make up that band.
YOu can either accept the change and move on. You don't have to like the change to accept it, or wallow in it. I choose to accept an dmove on. End of story. The sooner you guys accept that for what ever reason Mike is gone, the better off you will be. I still support Mike and when he does put something out oh course I will buy it. My loyality lies with the band. Memebers and as a whole.
I hope that made some kind of sense to you guys.
Then again I probably be upset if Duncan or Raine lefrt. Then again,. you could probably replace Duncan, but Raine. Good luck, it is always harder replacing singers.
