Im my person opinon i think steve is a much better gaurtarist then mike. I know ill probally get smacked for this but hey, he sounds a shit load better. With his rifts and shit in these new and older songs, i sense a much bigger and better presence. Plus since steves arrival the band is playing much more like a tight group which wants to go out and produce mucis. I know i cant forget the factors which mike had on the group, and there wouldnt be an olp if it wasnt for him. Steve rocks, cant wait to here what they come out with next.

Just had to get that out.

I think they're just different. Steve sounds good live, but he needs to really play on a studio album for me to tell. Mike was such a unique guitarist... and I find that more attractive than technical ability.

I agree that they're just really different. Mike had a different sound than Steve and was in no way trying to achieve the sound that Steve is. That said, I really like Steve's sound, but maybe in a few years I'll yearn for the unique blend that Mike gave OLP fans.

Steve is amazing .. I wasn't that big of a fan of Mike's to begin with though so I'm not really comparing them, but I think Steve is just what they needed. He brings so much energy to the band and when I finally got to see him play live it was incredible! Steve is an awesome guitar player and the band finally seems to be one unit, together in this. Before it just always seemed like Mike was off on his own sometimes and didn't really fit in .. that's what I thought anyway but now they don't seem so serious and they're really letting go and having fun.

Steve does bring energy. It's fun to see him really get into his guitar work, and he expresses such a passion for the music he makes. Just look at some of the late night performances they have given lately. Even though they all didn't seem too thrilled to be there, Steve still put on a great performance and looked like he was really into it. That's one of the things I really like about him.

Exactly .. at the last concert I was at I was focusing more on Steve than I was anybody else. I didn't even notice when Raine leaped into the crowd to surf .. I was too busy watching Steve rock out :lol:

Yeah me too. I took all these pictures of him really getting into the music but the lighting was aweful so only one barely came out. I must admit, though, that Duncan really shines at concerts as well. I watched him a lot cause he does little funny things over there on the side..hehe.

I couldn't really see Steve during the whole in-store thing in June :| But I saw him at the 89X Birthday Bash, which was cool.

That show was so awesome! (The 89x b-day bash), he did a great job, and it was cool seeing him play with OLP for the first time in his home state. - Megan

I like Steve more than Mike. With Steve, you can really see him get into the music and add an edge to the music, ya know? With Mike, he kinda just stood there and played these awesome riffs and all, but he seemed so apathetic to what he was doing, even though he was awesome.

I guess I can't really judge because I liked the music so much more before Steve, but I know that's not Steve's fault... Maybe I'll decide when their next album comes out. But as a person, Steve's awesome :wink: :mrgreen:

I have to say that it is great to see the Response Steve is getting from alot of Die Hards.

Alot of you have wrote that you feel the band is tighter and rocking out more. Well this is exactly what Raine, Duncan and Jeremy have been saying all along. They feel with Steve that they have limitless oportunities they couldn't really explore with Mike, for whatever reason.

This is not to distract from Mike. Mike was a big part of who OLP were and are, but it is like a child growing up. You don't forget your childhood, but you growup. I think this is what happened with Mike. they wanted to move one way, he didn't. it doesn't mean either party is wrong, just different.

I can tell you that Steve has been greatful for everyone compliments. he is playing his little heart out, so it is great to see this response.
