Yep. From what I can gather, they wrote quite a bit for Clumsy too (but still probably not anywhere near HIPT). Naveed, Happiness, SM, and Gravity were all described as pretty focused efforts, without a ton of leftovers from the studio.

I shouldn't complain because FREE, also, even the worst of OLP is tolerable, but hell, this is a place to talk and voice our opinions. I'm not saying you're all shit heads for being excited about the HIPT songs. I'm just saying that if we're going Steve heavy, I really would love to get more Curve B-Sides. For me, I'd prefer that more than even Naveed stuff. Curve just sounds closer to the OLP I loved. HIPT has some jems, and i think the album would have been much stronger if many of these B's replaced some of the other songs that made the CD, but when your knee jerk image of OLP is a song like Annie or Car Crash, a song like Vampires just doesn't quench the olp thirst.

Also, I wasn't suggesting and I don't think MindsOnLoan was suggesting that anyone needs to shut up about the song choice and balance between "eras" in the Vault releases. Nobody wants to hear just the HIPT leftovers. I want the older stuff, I want the even newer stuff... really, it'd be nice if they release every last thing, even the stuff that might not be so great. I was only trying to provide some perspective, that there is simply a lot of material from the HIPT sessions compared to most their other albums. So, as they're picking tracks, HIPT will come up more frequently. Otherwise, they'll exhaust the old material early and have a long stream of HIPT songs left to release at the end of the Vault series. Also, a lot of the older material is on DAT or analog tape, and isn't as easily accessible as files on a hard drive. It sounded like Duncan has been digging through all that old stuff, but perhaps it's still a work in progress. If they want to track down their best version of Trapeze, that will probably take a lot more time than tracking down the best version of Not Afraid or Vampires.
That said, I do feel like they're probably due for picking another non-HIPT track or two very soon.
