I think Escape Artist is about Mike Turner. Mike Turner is referred to as Emtee for all that don't know.

In the song the part that they yell out, "You're Gone." ...then Raine says, "An Emtee Obvious Muse" or "Empty Obvious Muse" but put two and two together ;)

...and if you listen to the lyrics it's very obvious that it's about Mike Turner. Kind of giving him appreciation and depreciation both in the same song.

Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?

Well there are the lyrics "I think about your great escape", implying that whoever Raine's talking about is an "escape artist". I'm actually happy that the song title isn't a lyric; somehow that strikes me as more creative.

Now that you mention it, yes, he does say "artist"... I was thinking it was "novice". But still, it's not the direct lyric "Escape Artist", and it's not in the chorus, which I like.

Hmm, you're joking or serious? It would be absolutely brilliant songwriting if it were about Mike (and it would probably make me emotional actually), but it is very likely not. "An Emtee Obvious Muse" or "Empty Obvious Muse" is definitely not what Raine's saying.

But I won't discredit the Mike theory just yet; at least not until we get the lyrics confirmed. Damn, if it actually is about him it would be by far the most brilliant and meaningful song they've written since SM. I love it already but that would make it one of my favorite OLP songs of all time.

EDIT - fuck, this is reeally getting to me now :freak: ... damn, I just got chills from an OLP song for the first time in years thinking about if it's about Mike... the first verse definitely fits the idea...

EDIT 2 - but now I have the gut feeling that it's just some generic love ballad about Raine's lover being an "escape artist" — now I dread finding out the chorus lyrics

The more I listen the more I know it is!

I think they all are yelling in the song, "You're the cause" instead of "You're Gone" D:

Which would be weird for Steve, lol, but yeah, I dunno. I still don't have a sweet clue what Raine is saying though, but I think it's pretty clearly not what you proposed - the last word is not muse, it sounds like "friends" or "spends" or something.

I think it's "An Emtee Obvious Muse". However, you could be right. Great Job!

They could be yelling also, "You're the God"

lol

Trusty,

My first instinct while they were yelling in the EA song..

"You're Gone", then, "You're the Ghost", then, "You're the Cause", then, "You're the God"

OLP have returned to their roots where fans like us try to figure words out to songs. It's been a while! :)

At first I thought it was "More than words," but now I'm pretty sure it's "don't let go."

I believe it is You're the Ghost. I remember somewhere on here while people were talking about it, trustworthy posted a picture of casper the ghost, so I believe that was him saying its You're the Ghost.
