you mean the driving riff of the song? sounds perfect to me! :)

plus it fills out nicely later in the song with the harmonies.

its no mistake i know that for a fact :)

Dreamland

A mother sets the dinner table,
Sun (or son) crashes to the pavement.

A father working just to make ends,
We spend our lives just trying to make sense … of it.

But I, I feel the love, I feel the power,
It comes to me in the darkest hour,
And I, I want to feel it again.

In this dreamland, the kids are alright…
And the sky is blue.
We all got wings and know how to fly,
I’m heading to the moon.

The sun on my face,
My head in the clouds,
Time on my side,
My feet off the ground,
I’m not coming down.
Not coming down.

The summer ends,
The ocean dries up.
A stranger dies and no one gives a fuck.

I take a look over my shoulder,
All my friends have gotten older.

But I, I feel the love, I feel the power,
It comes to me in the darkest hour,
And I, I want to feel it again.

In this dreamland, the kids are alright…
And the sky is blue.
We all got wings and know how to fly,
I’m heading to the moon.
The sun on my face,

My head in the clouds,
Time on my side,
My feet off the ground,
I’m not coming…

Change turns to change.
Brave turns to brave.
Blame turns to blame.

My head in the clouds,
Feet on the ground,
I’m not coming down!

In this dreamland, the kids are alright…
And the sky is blue.
We all got wings and know how to fly,
I’m heading to the moon.
The sun on my face,
My head in the clouds,
Time on my side,
My feet off the ground,
I’m not coming down.

Listening to it again, I actually totally dig that. And White Flags riff works so well everywhere except on headphones.

you mean right when the solo kicks you in the face?

Crank that knob to 11 with your axe jammed into the amp while fire , sparks and smoke shoot out of it like the 4th of july baby! That's all that is :)

I see where some of these comments come f om, but lets be honest, olp has been around the block and the people who mixed the record are more then qualified - hell they are top notch at the top of their game...

So from now on you don't have to worry about 'mistakes', just enjoy the soothing sounds of burn burn! ;)

It's very raw, and I love that. Raine's voice doesn't overshadow -- hell, ytou have to fight to figure out what he's saying sometimes. Haven't had to do that in forever with this band.

My favourite of the album:

White Flags:

And she says it's cold
And she says the sky's about to fall
How do you know?
Well she says the writing's on the wall

Everything I made I somehow broke
Every word I say I think I stole
I can't explain
But I won't give up the ghost

She looks like an angel
Talks like it's war

And this whole world has gone crazy
God's got a little lazy
We're raising our white flags
And holding our breath
No retreat and no surrendering

And she says it's late
And come on we're heading for the sun
I said now wait
Ah, this battle's just begun

Every line I've crossed has come undone
Everything I know is somehow wrong
I can't escape
And there's nowhere left to run

She looks like an angel
talks like it's war

And this whole world has gone crazy
God's got a little lazy
We're raising our white flags
And holding our breath
But no retreat and no surrendering

I'm gonna fall with you
Crawl with you
Oh no
Oh no
I'm gonna fall with you
I'll break down these walls with you
Oh no
Hey

And this whole world has gone crazy
God's got a little lazy
We're raising our white flags
And holding our breath
Oh, we're trading our black hearts
For angels instead
But no retreat and no surrendering

I'm falling more and more in love with this album every minute. I can't even pick my favourite song, because I'm digging them all so much. "Escape Artist" sounds like nothing I've ever really heard before though, so I'm probably leaning towards that one at the moment.

The rest of my iPod is not going to be getting a whole lot of love for the next several months, that's for sure.

I'm a mix engineer. I heard some oddities in the mixes too. Odd production decisions probably more than anything.

I think it's funny to read all the heat they're getting on their myspace comment about the stream. I really don't understand why it's only for people in Canada.

People in Canada keep saying "yeah, but you have Hulu".... who cares? I've never used Hulu. I just want to hear the music of a band that I love. Thank the lord for proxy's I guess.

I think there are some great moments and songs, but the album still definitely lacks the magic of everything prior to SM. I don't see this album being a commercial success.

I imagine I'll enjoy it years down the road, but I won't really care to listen to it. That's how I feel about HIPT. Nice songs...but not enough replay value. I still love the first four albums all these years later. I don't even mind Gravity.

Okay, I started reading this thread, but I don't want to be biased going in for my first listen. So I'm going to have a lot of catching up to do when I come back from camp.

I can see definite replay value here. Escape Artist, White Flags, Refuge, Monkey Brains...they are fantastic. The only one I find myself skipping is Signs of Life.
