Oh OK, I guess the video of it I watched back after it aired cut out that intro part. That's pretty cool, then.
I hate when artists get covered and never even get mentioned. *cough*GreenwheelbyMelissaEtheridge*cough*

Honestly, I didn't think he was all that great to begin with. Then to go on and butcher a song by his favorite band should have been humiliating. Instead, Raine CALLED him, and he got praised by the judges! It's stupid.
If I butcher Life on TV, do you think Raine will call me to tell me how awesome that was?

Yeah I agree. I know he did better than what I would have done.
Its not hard to make a shitty song sound shitty though. Innocent is just a terrible song. And I liked a lot of Gravity.. It's just a boring bland radio song and that's what this guy is good at.

I think if he really wanted to do OLP proud, he could have picked a better song, but instead he picked a shitty song and therefore deserves the ridicule for being a dumbass

I'm pretty sure the show doesn't let them pick ANY song they want. They were probably like "Our Lady Who? *looks up Billboard history* OK, you can do Somewhere Out There or Innocent."

They have a book of songs the contestants can choose from (you'll see it every now and then when they're doing the pre-performance videos and the contestants talk about song choice). I can't imagine having Innocent on there and not having a better OLP song in there too, especially with all the attention Raine seems to pay to AI... >___>;;

Despite the fact that American Idol blows. Perhaps despite the fact that the vast majority of CM'ers wanted to toss after hearing David Cook cover OLP.
We should be glad OLP got some un-expected credit.

David Cook mentioned Our Lady Peace. On American Idol. A program watched mostly by OLP's smaller fan base.
Regardless of whether he blew the performance. Or not. There's the chance that David Cook fanboys/girls (you know theres 15 year old girls that watched it that want Cook's nuts) youtube'd or downloaded OLP songs. That's not a bad thing.

Precedent would indicate yes
I agree with whoever said that innocent was probably his only choice or close to it, in terms of OLP.
I don't know whether he's great or not, I've heard both ways, and really can't be bothered to research enough to get a good sense of it. But, performing live under pressure is hard. And when it comes to singing, your instrument is your entire body and the littlest thing can screw over your performance. I feel for the guy.

Haha. I actually remember Cook saying that he chose the song because he thought it represented the good in everyone, and that there is an innocence and the power to do good, etc, etc... it was the week where everything was supposed to be meaningful.
I don't know why David Cook chose that song. In his mind, it was probably, "Well, I love the band, and I should probably get something people would know..."
