Short answer? Wonderful.
Good lists, guys. Shame they'll never happen.
Yes, Car Crash is amazing live.

You live in Saskatchewan. You won't get to see it.
Here's a fun story for you!
OLP came to Saskatoon a few years back, and put on a lovely show. They played Hope live. This is when they were alternating between playing Hope and Car Crash.
OLP then came to Regina a few months after they went to Saskatoon. I was insanely excited because I was sure they would play Car Crash, because why the heck would they play the same special song again, in a city only two hours away from the city they played in a few months before?? They would surely mix up the set list, no?
...Yeah, they didn't play Car Crash. They played Hope. Again.
Songs to bring back (not necessarily every night... but with some rotation)
The Birdman
Supersatellite
Dirty Walls
Automatic Flowers
Carnival
Big Dumb Rocket
Thief
Middle of Yesterday
Not Enough
This is tailored a little bit to what would work with just the 4 band members -- would choose completely differently if they were touring with Joel.
I wish they would rotate more of the singles so that they're played maybe 50-70% rather than 95% of the time to allow more time in the set for variety. I would say Starseed, Naveed, and Superman's Dead are the only songs that they MUST PLAY at each and every show.

Dang, why is there so little OLPness on YouTube? There's lots of copies of Car Crash live out there, yet none are uploaded? Lame.

EQX played Starseed as the first song of the day. WTF? EQX never plays OLP! That was awesome to see, although I wish their system actually logged all the songs, half the songs for certain hours are missing, and there's a song I can't remember but I know I'd know it when I see it and it's not showing up during any of the hours I was listening to the radio

I would looove to hear The Wonderful Future live again. At least I think I saw it live, in Royal Oak, a loooong time ago. That could be my mind playing tricks on me though, because I love that song so much.
If that show was between November 22 and December 4 of 2002 you may have. That's the only span of time they played it.
Such a shame. It was glorious.

Yeah, a quick check of the tour index proves that I am, in fact, making things up in my mind. Oh well, it was a nice thought. I saw them 4 times in 2002 and none of those setlists include TWF.
Aww. Sorry about that. If it makes you feel any better, it was so long ago for me, all I can remember is that it was awesome, not so much what it sounded like. Stupid lack of bootlegs.
Edit: Oh, and I remember Jer telling us it was on the setlist before the show, and nobody believing him.

That's awesome, did he ever mention why they only played the song for such a limited time?
It's crazy that that was 7 years ago. I still have the picture of me and all of my friends spelling out I <3 O L P on 5 separate t-shirts at the detroit show and having that end up on olp.net and winning some prize thing because of it. goooood times.
Yeah, I find it horrifying that the Gravity era was THAT long ago. It doesn't feel like it was.
As far as why they stopped playing TWF... I know Jer said that the night before (the first time they'd played it), it hadn't gone over that well. We cheered like crazy people, and even chanted "play it again!" and got Raine to sing a little bit of it again before saying "nah, that'd be silly!" (), but I don't think the rest of the crowd was freaking out quite so much.
So yeah, maybe it was poor crowd reaction that caused its demise. Depressing.
(Side note: I can't believe I still remember all those details.)

Though even if we had, we still wouldn't have believed you!!!

imo the only prob w/ TWF the night before was they opened with it, it was dark, no one really recognized it, it didnt seem "real" per se.. i mean.. we sorta knew it was coming given stace told us the first song would be "surprising" or whatever but it was still crazy that they played that lol
the performance itself wasnt that bad imo
