I saw anchorman the other day for the first time.

But I already knew all the good parts from other people saying them, so it was actually kinda lame.

I've bought so many movies lately. I've taken to buying terrible movies for less than $10 at wal-mart. Now I have an excellent collection of bad DVD's.
The Transporter 2, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Cast Away, 13 Going on 30....Its been fun times.

just watched Idiocracy. It's by Mike Judge (Office Space, King of the Hill).

I love Office Space, so I had high hopes for this.

But holy crap don't waste your time on this piece of garbage.

It's not that bad, it was just done poorly due to major budget constraints for what his vision was... Okay so the story wasn't that witty and the acting wasn't the greatest... but... wait where was I going with this?

Oh yeah never mind it wasn't all that good... it had it's moments and is maybe worth a single viewing, but it's nowhere near as good as Office Space.

I saw Pan's Labyrinth the other day. It was good, but not great. It's a spanish film directed by Guillermo Del Toro the director of Hellboy and subtitled in english. It could have been a really great film, the fantasy parts with the fawn and the crazy creature who puts eyeballs in his hands and the giant toad were all awesome, but most of the film takes place in the real world in I believe World War 2 era Spain and got pretty boring. If the film had more of the fantasy aspect and less of the real world stuff it would have been really good. It was creative and creepy in a way that reminded me of a Tool music video. The movie is pretty gory too. A lot of people get shot, there's some cutting of flesh and a dude who stitches himself up... oh and even a dude who gets his faced smashed in with a bottle until his nose no longer exists and he's dead.... yeah and this is rated 14A in Canada... A fairy tale movie! Craziness yo.

yeah, exactly. there were a few genuinely funny moments, and a couple of scenes where the satire (which should have been the centrepiece of the film but somehow got pushed to the background) showed through. otherwise, kind of a waste.

He should make a live action Beavis and Butthead movie. He would totally redeem himself.

I saw that last week too.
I was excited to see something spanish with fantasy-stuff, but nobody told me it was a bloody-gory-war-everyone-dies-dead-stabbed-in-the-face type of thing.
I might have liked it a lot better if I'd been warned about that.

I liked the fact that it was Adult and not some childish movie like Harry Potter or The Chronicles of Narnia, both are great in their own respects, but this was something a little darker and weirder, but it didn't have enough of the fantasy aspect.

I agree.
but I still think it could have been a little less violent. I know it's a war, but does everybody have to die?

I would've liked a bit more violence actually. Maybe not the dudes face getting cut open, but the violence totally surprised me and gave it a darker grittier feel, which was one of the only things that was interesting about any of the real world stuff... or it would have been really boring.

I saw The Departed last week. Very good. I've also seen Pan's Labyrinth and I liked it. Too much gore but very well done, it was one of those artsy movies.

I've been debating downloading/renting "The Departed" off the Xbox Live Video Marketplace. Just haven't been in the mood.
