Yeah, I agree. I mean Stace's answer clarifies things, but doesn't justify the costs fanclub members are paying. We're really not getting what we're supposed to get according to what the membership says we're supposed to get. The biggest problem was how the $170.00 tickets went on sale at the same time as the .net member presale. I mean I signed up for the 35.00 membership and wouldn't doubt that I was one of the first people to buy tickets with the .net presale for Saskatoon, I got on ticketmaster right as the presale started. Saskatoon isn't generally a location that sells tickets quickly for any band. Especially if it comes down to paid memberships for fanclubs. Why? Because Saskatchewan doesn't get a lot of bands so a lot of people don't see the reason to sign up for a paid membership.

Anyway, all I'm saying is that the people who signed up for a .net membership aren't really getting what they're promised. Mostly because of these $170.00 tickets. However, then that also applies to all true OLP fans, including people who aren't part of the fanclub because they are also losing good seats to people who have enough money to spend $170.00 on a ticket for a small venue concert... Even if these people aren't big fans of the band.

This will be my first (and maybe only) OLP concert sooo I honestly don't care about the price of the tickets. All I want is the best possible seats and if that means paying an outrageous fee, so be it. However, i have yet to find a means of purchasing these "hot seat" tickets for the Moncton show. I'm wondering if these will be available when the tickets go on sale to the public tomarrow. Any info would be appreciated.

Okay, but some of the seats for the general sale (see: less than 1/3 the price) will be just as good, and many of the "hot seats" aren't the "best possible".

Anyways, that seems to be a moot point now since the special packages are now labelled "not available".

Your best bet would be to contact the venue to find out about getting the best tickets still available. I'd still advise looking into the general sale because you'll probably get good seats there.

The soundcheck I went to in Philly was at a MUCH smaller venue than these shows, yet there were probably at least 30 of us in there.

Hmm... wondering if it's the first 12 ticket orders (each one could be any number of tix up to the max), or the first 12 tickets/people.

i am pretty pissed off at this.. well. if there were only a few (~20) hotseat presales in each show, then this means i completely should have just bought tickets for the normal general sale, and not the cfox presale. i thought the ENTIRE first 10 rows would be reserved, so i just grabbed tickets right away, seeing that if i cant get seats better than row 10, i might as well just buy in tix from the cfox presale... and ended up with the 15th row.

....

i think i might explode. but maybe im overreacting.

I was referring to Hope's post.... If you get crummy seats and better ones become available, buy the good ones and put the crummy ones on Ebay.

Ticket Sales

Post by FrankTheRabidBunny »

Hey all, lurker coming out of his shell...

What is really sad about all this jazz, other ticket sites are capitalizing big time by selling tickets at majorly inflated profit margins, as people have no idea what the base price is, for example:

Tickets Now: $140, Vancouver, LORC, Row H
http://www.ticketsnow.com/tickets.cfm/p=364388

CosttoCoast Tickets: $170, Vancouver, LORC, Row H (same seats)
http://www.coasttocoasttickets.com/buy/ ... pid=364388

GotTickets: $155, Vancouver, LORC, Row H (again same row)
http://www.gotickets.com/concert/our_la ... ver_bc.php

How can all these companies have the same row, yet at different prices?

Cheers
Rich

Those sites are like scalpers basically. They buy tickets and then resell them at higher prices, they aren't given any by the concert's promoters.

It's encouraging that even the scalpers have got nothing better than row H. We just need to find those tickets in the first 7 rows in the general sale now (the ones that aren't at the vastly inflated price to start with).
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

That was just my point, scalpers can get away with buying tickets at $50 and resell them at $170, as a very select few (us here on CM) realize the seats are in the same section. Scalpers are loving olp right now.

If they're anything like the scalpers here, they'd sell them on at that price even if this hot seat thing wasn't going on. Though you're right, this does make things easier for them if someone goes to TM or whoever and sees "ooh yes, top price $170 so I'm getting a bargain"

I'm not sure if they were expecting people to pay that much to buy from them right now, or not until all the regularly priced tickets on Ticketmaster have been sold, at which point there are always fans desperate to get ahold of a ticket at any cost. I guess I just think those sites would have tickets to the Vancouver shows listed for about the same price they do now even if there weren't $170 hotseats confusing fans.

I think his point is that fans are more likely to buy them thanks to the ridiculous Hot Seat price being listed normally on Ticketmaster pages.
