I think for Cherry they take greatest canadian in the literal sense. He's the example of what it is to be a Canadian (hockey, tough, opinionated, helps others, etc.). I'd actually rather him on the list than Alexander Graham Bell who spent all of like 2 months in Canada.

Hal Anderson made the top 100 list. People were allowed to have write-in votes and I guess he got enough people to do it.

i agree. New degrassi is just a regurgitated old degrassi., Same plots, same topics, same everything except now they go to some super school with amazing technology.

New Degrassi sucks ass. Old Degrassi is where it's at. Whether you want to admit it or not, if you're Canadian and within a certain age range, you have watched Degrassi. And chances are you were at least somewhat entertained/educated/affected by it.

You're kidding, right? Don Cherry is an arrogant, irritating asshole. He's only getting votes because drunken hockey fans don't know who anyone else on the list is!

That's your opinion. There's a fine line between love and hate and its very fine when it comes to Cherry. I personally wouldn't have put him on the list, but that doesn't matter.

Also, I've met Cherry before, and he is by far one of the nicest hockey people around. Just because every so often he says something that makes you think :wtf: doesn't mean he's an arrogant asshole. He's just very passionate about hockey, much like millions of Canadians.

When you think of greatest Canadian, what are we considering? The fact that you invent one thing? or the fact that you embody what it is to be Canadian on a daily basis?

see ya.

I don't think you're getting my point, but since it's coming from someone who doesn't play sports I can understand why. Maybe you missed the episode, but the case for Cherry was laid out in the fact that his qualities are your average Canadian's qualities. It was well done if you ask me.

When I was in grade six, our teacher showed us an hour long movie made up entirely of "A Part of our Heritage" historica minutes. Afterwards the only part a lot of people remembered was "I smell burnt toast!"
