See, before I decided my smart resolution ie[Chill for the next four and ignore Bush and the US govt], I was being a super emo dramatic bitch from hell.
Tis much easier to just get on with it.

Dont you think that in a way, by arguing and being rude to each other, the sense of division Bush has made just gets the better of everyone in here also? Therefore, He wins again. Just a thought...

Tis much easier to just get on with it.. See, because its done. No matter how much people argue and pick apart each others beliefs, Bush will still be the president. The next four years belong to a redneck, but ya know, its not like it hasnt happened before. After said four years, Its over! Bush can never run again!

No thanks. Discussion, and debate is the only way to ensure that division doesn't happen in the future. It allows us to understand the other side's point of view and perhaps find a comprimize and in the long run better society. It's called phrenesis.

No one said politics was pretty. The people here who actually debate rather than attack one another understand that its a fun thing to do. It's just a matter of respecting everyone. It doesn't mean you stop conversations when some people can't be mature about it. You just ignore them and move on.
Maybe, instead of saying "People who vote for bush are stupid" you can ask the people on this board why it is they actually voted for Bush. Then think about what point of view they're coming from. You learn a lot more that way.

I wonder what kind of government the Smurfs have....
Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf
Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...
Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...
So glad you could stay
Forever
He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand
You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..
So glad you could stay
Forever

Makes sense to me.

cass i like you kiddo so im not trashing your opinion, etc but there is a huge diff between visiting a place and living in it ... before i moved down to jax, i went down to visit my dad and spend time there and my opinion of the place was much more different then after moving there. nothing major mind you or obvious but little things that you do notice
I like you too, Kiddo. I didn't say there weren't differences. Hell, I can see a difference in my own parents who come from different sides of the country. Sometimes my Dad still says she does and says the weirdest things, which are traditional to her. She says the same about him. I just don't understand why I'm not allowed to think that Canadians and Americans, as a whole are very similar in the things that matter.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

life is so weird.
I voted for Kerry, but I wasn't particularly fond of either of the candidates, so I'm not going to start freaking out about how Bush won. I do think he's a total dip shit, but then again, it's not like Kerry was some saint who was going to come save our country.
back to what I was saying about life being weird. So I live in Utah, where my vote totally didn't count for shit. On anything. because if you live in Utah and vote kinda democratic, well, you're wasting your time, pretty much. it's weird though, because almost all of my friends share my political views, and most of the people on this board seem to as well, but I feel like I'm all alone in them in Utah.
Cass, I just wanted to tell you that I really respect your opinion. It takes a lot to be true to yourself and your views even when you're in the minority (i should know, what with living in utah and all hehehe, this whole thing is kind of ironic).

don't look now, just keep watching the TV hating what's too see waiting for someone to say something that's right.
Something that is present in the Canadian system is that the leaders of the Opposition parties are still elected members of parliament. This means the attend the sessions and can debate with the other leaders on a daily basis. In my opinion this would helps greatly if the losing candidate doesn't just fall off the face of the Earth. That's why people feel like their votes don't matter.

Just because you believe that he has done the wrong thing, doesn't make you right. 59 million people voted against you Nik and 54 million for. To some of them maybe he did do something wrong but they believe he can do it better than Kerry.
Campbell, I was defending my OPINION. You know, people are entitled to those. We're also entitled to feeling very strong emotions over things that happen that effect us and the people we care about, and to not be called names for feeling these emotions and speaking our minds.
You need to stop acting like you know everything and are better than everyone else. Your holier than thou attitude is really getting old. I'm not saying this to piss you off, but because I really wish you'd stop it. I enjoy talking to you about other things... but when you start acting this way (not just about the election, but other things too), it's really frustrating.
