boobies = gewd.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

My brother had an I river. The software won't let you rename songs, so if you get one of the net the name could be gibberish. Also it's annoying to navigate. You might want to keep looking or just get a minidisc

Actually, it uses ID3 tags, so you just change the file names through there before uploading them (easily done through winamp).

I'm really flip-flopping between the iPod and the iRiver right now.

The iPod seems like an all around good device. Backdraws are battery life and possibility of poor PC compatibility.

The iRiver seems like it's an amazing device, with a lot more features than the iPod (including radio, file storage [acts like a removable harddrive] and recording). Backdraws include the possibility of software issues and a more complicated interface.

I know quite a few people with ipods and none of them have had problems using them with their PC. Secondly I'm pretty sure you can use the iPod as a removable hard drive.

Okay, I just re-checked, and the iPod does act as an external drive, and it does have recording (with an accessory, but that's no big deal).

Another thing is that it's firewire, and I don't have a firewire card. Again, another accessory, but I suppose that's not a big deal.

I do have one major qualm though, and that's the battery life. It's got the shortest battery life of almost any hard drive player I've seen, and the battery itself runs out quite quickly. Is there any way to have the battery replaced?

I'm more and more considering going over to Futureshop and looking at all the accessories I can buy (and how much more it's going to freakin' cost me).

how long are you planing to use the mp3 player at a time. if you set it on a flat surface without moving it you can get even more time out of the battery. you can get a car recharger so when you are useing it in the car it won't drain the battery.

I know I can get chargers and stuff (you can even get a AA charger!).

What I want to know is if I can have the battery changed in a few years, once the battery life is worn down a bit...?

It's not user replacable, so I'm guessing it's pretty much burried in there...

$200 American? :wtf:

Those are for first generation iPods, though. I don't think the new ones are that easy to get into. In fact, the guy in the video linked to on that site said you can't do it that way with the new ones...

If I get an iPod, here's what I'd probably get...

-iPod 15gig Image
-USB adapter Image
-AA battery adapter Image
-(maybe the FM radio transmitter, for in the car Image)
-(maybe the in-line remote Image)

Okay, went to Future Shop...

20gig iPod (comes with remote, case and dock) + USB adapter + 3 year all inclusive FS warranty = roughly $750
15gig iPod (comes with squat) + USB adapter + warranty + case = roughly $700

So, I'll probably just go with the 20gig, though I'm not sure yet.

They didn't have any 15gig ones in, so I'll wait until next week, go back, recalculate everything with the guy in the store, try to work out some sort of a deal for making me wait a week (bastards ;) ) and see where it goes from there.

How on earth does that all work out to $700?
How much does the warranty, USB adapter and case cost?
