I disagree. I was raised anglican and baptized as an infant. I do not think this automatically makes my faith weak and I don't think anyone besides me can judge whether or not my faith is weak.

Btw: lying is wrong, the catholic church probably isn't going to get what they want from this, and religion in itself is not hypocritical, it's the people who practice the religion (or lack thereof) that are hypocritical.

hey, wanna hear something extremely weird and random?

my mother (now a non-practicer in any way) was raised in an extremely religious catholic home. she went to a catholic school for 10 years, and her younger brothers were sent to a catholic boarding school for thier high school (where one of them got abused by a priest, ALSO not the point).

now recently we were talking and somehow the conversation came around to bibles. turns out she NEVER owned or had one in her house while growing up. i was always led to believe that christianty and the bible were pretty closly related. how is it possible to practice a religion without having its primary text at hand? :wtf:

Catholics believe that when Jesus Ascended to Heaven to sit at God's hand, he left Peter in charge of his "church on Earth," ie the Catholic Church. Catholics believe that the Church is still the true Church of Christ, and that God speaks through the Pope to continue spreading His word. The Catholic Catechism is more central to Catholic beliefs, as it explains the Bible in a "Catholic fashion," for lack of a better term.

but .... condoms DONT work all that well. Something like 67 percent effective when used CORRECTLY. And there are tiny holes in them from being mass produced. i can respect being not religious at all, its your prerogative, but I dont get why you have to insult my point of view and my religion. I dont insult non-Catholics.

1. No, condoms have over 90% chance of preventing the spread of HIV when used properly, according to the WHO. This was in the initial article. Read, then post.

2. The fact that the Catholic Church was involved is mostly tertiary information, to me. Had this been PETA, the President of the US, NOW, the UN, whatever, the fact remains that a very influential body is intentionally spreading lies to further it's own agenda. These lies will likely kill some people.

I frankly don't see how anyone profession Christian beliefs could somehow not think that this is a horrible practice.

i agree being raised in a certain faith might not make you of a lesser faith for sure, think of it this way, If you are raised as nothing but have access to all of them, you research and learn about all of them, you find one that you truly believe and it fits your morals. Then you can truly without a doubt believe in it. When you have always had it on you, you just take it on because you always have had it, you never did any soul searching. I don't know. About the whole Catholic church thing, I think that if you surveyed early adult and middle aged catholics, they would tell you that they don't really follow or believe everything that the catholic church tells them.

I mean, come on. Sex only for procreation purposes? I'm sure that very little catholics (with the exception of the elderly) actually follow or believe this. Actually, I am pretty sure that the catholic religion does not believe that sex can only be used for having children, because they are big on this whole "natural family planning" thing, which means that instead of using birth control, a woman has to figure out the days when she is not ovulating and stuff and only have sex when she is least likely to be able to have kids or something like that. They say it is like 90% effective, when used properly, but it seems like extremely difficult to follow.

I'm catholic, and come from a long line of catholics. I was taught by my mother that the catholic church has a lot of messed up beliefs, but you follow what you think is right, and if you don't believe in something that they tell you, then that is fine. My mom remained a catholic because she likes the way mass is set up, and i am still catholic because of the same reasons.

Actually, I don't know what I believe anymore. Sometimes the whole idea of a god seems so foreign to me. So yeah, this was a big rant about nothing. :oops:
