Why is everyone so negative about OLP lately?

My mom doesn't care about mainstream music.
My dad, on the other hand, can recognize OLP on the radio. We both went to Stage 13 and the next day, "Innocent" was playing and my dad was like "That's OLP, isn't it?"
He only likes the mellow songs like Somewhere Out There, Bring Back the Sun, 4am, and Are You Sad? He also thinks OLP would be more successful if they released songs like those but I'm trying to convince him that songs like Superman's Dead and Naveed are what made them famous in the first place.

And if I don't make it known that
I've loved you all along
Just like sunny days that
We ignore because
We're all dumb and jaded
And I hope to God I figure out
What's wrong
~4am~

yeah maybe you should tell olp that too, they have trouble even getting male fans now a days because they seem so mellow and pussy, really they lost alot of male fans after Happiness, mostly the artistic ones stuck around but now they're getting rid of the art too........

Ok, this is going to be a long post...
I have liked OLP for about 5 years now. After i had first heard superman's dead. But i was only nine. I never really got the chance to be a diehard fan until a couple of years ago. So I don't really know OLP other than their music. I can't compare their newer concert's to their old ones. I have only been to one of their concerts. Anyways, i really liked them right before gravity came out. I got used to their older sound. And then heard gravity. I thought it was pretty good. Then i went back to their older stuff and just said to myself... 'gravity really sucks for an OLP cd.' But i still thought it was a good cd. It had some good songs. Recently... I have not gone one day for almost 3 months where i have not listened to Our Lady peace. The new songs do not disapoint me because i was not expecting much after gravity. I enjoy all of the new songs. Not as much as their first four cds... but it is still good. I think that 'talk is cheap' is very under rated.
After reading everything all of these older fans have to say... it really saddens me. I will never dislike OLP. Their first four cds always impressed me. Like i said, i still listen to their older stuff.
I was disapointed to hear that they were returning to bob rock for their newest cd. I really think that i have to wait for the cd to truly judge their new song. I think that it will turn out better than gravity... but i am not expecting anymore than that.
I hate to say it... but i don't think that their next cd will do half as well as gravity. Especailly with the songs that we've all heard. It's not as radio-friendly as gravity. So i don't think that a lot of the people who got hooked on only the gravity songs will like it. If this does happen... i hope that they go back to Lanni, or choose a different producer if they do another cd.
Gravity had a lot of things wrong with it that just made it worse than the others. The drumming, the vocals, the guitar, and the lyrics. They were all simplified. Except for the guitar which became too loud and overpowering. The lyrics were not mysterious anymore. The vocals were boring with no falceto. And the drumming was not as crazy as before.
As for the live shows... like i have said, i only went to one... about 7 months ago. They did play a lot more of their older stuff than i expected. anybody home, superman's dead (which didn't surprise me much), Naveed, starseed, are you sad, and clumsy. It was a short show too. Only about an hour. They did not play 4am... which truly disapointed me. I'd have to say... if i go to another show... i would only expect the songs that i saw already, and possibly other hits like OMA. I could tell that eveyrone would have gone insane if they played a song like 'dirty walls' or 'car crash' or 'stealing babies'
I have said this before, an i'll say it again, 'the next cd will either put the nail to OLP's coffin, or bring back old fan's faith in the band' I'm sorry to say, but i doubt it will be the ladder.
It saddens me. I do like the newest songs, but they don't ompare to their older stuff.

I can only say that if you guys do not like the newer songs you will not like the new CD. It is going to be a bit more harder then Gravity(more like Naveed).
We spoke to Raine the other night about it and he said it is nothing compared to Gravity. That is will sound close to OLD U2.

And does anyone think that is kind of sad? Here was this great band who would write about intelligent things, use falsetto, and do whatever it took to make great music, and it really pleased their fans. Now here's the same band who is choosing to make music that sounds like another famous band, dumbs down their lyrics, and abandons everything that made them special for better album sales. That really depresses me.
And I like how OLP says they want to open a new chapter with their music, but they say the cd is going to be like Naveed (with dumber lyrics, as we've all heard) but harder. How is that evolving? That sounds more like trying to repeat their first cd, but with heavier guitar.

I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
