i would kinda like it if you would stop refering to the "new fans" as the US, and the "longtime fans" as canada...u know there ARE some of us down here that are longtime fans.. dont group me and the other badass people down here with the rest of this godforsaken country please

The point, though, (which I don't think is true) is that their current target audience consists of new fans in the US, and that they're leaving Canada and their old fans (from Canada and the US) behind.

However, I still think they're just making the music they want to make.

I'm sure there are people in Canada who don't give a rats ass about OLP too.

Yeah, i just think their are more new fans in the U.S. than Canada. Not to say there aren't any in the U.S.

i dunno if any of you saw it, but duncan and raine did a canadian idol interview and said that it doesnt matter how famous you get, its about YOU making music...now i seriously dont believe that gravity was about making music, and not about selling albums..im not saying i hated it or anything..but i dont think OLP is being true to what they said to canadian idol...or else its all bob rocks fault  i think that olp should just go with their creative juices..and not about pleasing fans or making a bigger fanbase...i mean i think if they went with what was in their minds, all us `longtime fans`since clumsy naveed or even sm would be happy...i mean they went with their minds on all the other cds.. i dunno about gravity though..

That interview was funny...

Guy: Hi! I'm with Canadian Idol.
Raine: Oh man... That's not good...
Guy: Hey! I'm trying to do a program here!
Raine: Alright, alright...

i know this is a bit delayed but......i would hardly say the big differencein Gravity is only the guitar, the lyrics and singing have changed drastically, not to mention jeremy has been convinced into playing like a drum machine, THAT is the difference, that and lack of layers. Also it seems to me the band is writing music RAINE always wanted to make, not what the band did, remember a time when Raine was going to start a solo project and had some songs writen? Innocent was one and 2 years ago, he said he had alot of music that was good but "just not olp". Looks like he decided to make OLP his kind of music. Mike, although he may not be technically as good on guitar as steve (i love steve) played a large part in theme and music in that band, and with his passing it left Raine as the unchalleneged leader of OLP, The Raine Maida Band. Why not just go like Matt Good and kick the rest off the guys out.

"The white dove is gone, the one world has come down hard, so why not share the pain of our problems, when all around are wrong ways, when all around is hurt, i'll roll up in an odd shape and wait, untill the tide has turned.....with anger, i'm dead weight, i'm anchored"- IME, God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) ^ Some say this song is about a terrorists thoughts before 911

"Pray for the sheep" Matt Good
"But it's alright, take the world and make it yours again" Matt Good

I felt it in the wind, and i saw it in the sky, i thought it was the end, i thought it was the 4th of July.

I honestly think that Jer and Duncan (and now Steve) are enjoying themselves right now, and are just having some fun with it. That's why I don't think it's just the Raine Maida Band (and why they're sticking around).

well i suppose none of us can really say, i do still hold out hope for this album, because watching olp fade into sad shadows of canadian icons is like watching your child die. I hope to be pleasently surprised by the next album, plus after gravity if they get worse i don't think ANYONE will argue with me on OLP's priorities

I don't think it's possible for them to sink lower than Gravity.

I think that it is entirely possible for it to be worse than gravity. Gravity wasn't terrible, it just wasn't OLP.

I haven't heard talk is cheap, but WIC and WTSOYF seem much better than the gravity stuff

I like Talk is Cheap and WTSOYF. Walking in Circles is still so-so. I need a really good bootleg or the album version to judge it. These songs are way better than Somewhere Out There though.....

I think the new one will be better. I can just hope it will be more inspired then the last one....and I have a feeling it will be.

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.
