Next Album Will Be The Most Important One... EVER

Post by Baby Thief »

I personally feel that OLP have a big choice to make. This next cd is going to be very important. It will make or break OLP in the US. It's almost a lose lose situation for them. I think they feel that if they have a sound like their older cds, the US won't listen, however the fans will be very happy. And if they do keep it sounding like Gravity, i think it will really just be the nail to the coffin of OLP's future cds. They now have got a bigger fanbase in the US than ever before... they need to decide whether they will try to keep that crowd or make their longtime fans happy. Now, ofcourse, they could be writing a cd that makes both groups happy. I think that out of the ones i've heard, it might jsut do that. Not afraid seems like a great track for the Americans and WIC seems like one to please their long time fans. I truly cannot wait for the new cd. And i do truly hope that more tracks sound as good as the ones i've heard.

Hmmm.
Do I want this album to break them in the US? But, in a way that means they will be what they were origianlly, before all this Gravity bullshit?

Or they might just make the music they want to make.

WIC and WTSOYF aren't targeted towards the audience in the states. They also aren't targeted towards their longtime fans. This is the type of music they want to make.

Well so far the new songs are amazing, so its a good start, I think they need a kick ass album to solidify there spot on top in the rock market. Gravity was ok, but lacked alot of stuff, Not enough was the main bright spot .

 exactly. I also agree with rob(axtech), they've always made the music they want to (or at least the music raine wants to), and i think they'll continue with that. i just think the music they want to make is affected by the fact that they want new fans.

I think they should make the quality music they started out with. Sure it'll be different now that they have a newer member and are working with new producers and stuff, but I say to hell with all the people who only want to hear what the real fans consider not their best! I say they should write first and foremost for themselves and for the real, loyal fans second.

And that's what they're doing; writing for themselves.

I can see that with Gravity, but this new stuff would be the worst attempt at selling out I've ever seen.

you know, I don't think its a consious choice to make. They can only write the music they are inspired to write.
