Why is everyone so negative about OLP lately?
The guys are right. If anyone here went to a club show in canada in december, or in the us. during the summer, compare it with what they're doing now. They used to be funner. They were full of energy because of spontaneity. Now that it's choreographed, it's like watching a wrestling match. It just doesn't seem as real. Plus, set lists are not hard to change. Take it from a musician. Oh, and psycho groupie? Please don't tell me i'm not a fan if i don't like Gravity. I am an Our Lady Peace fan, but Gravity is NOT Our Lady Peace.
Don't ask questions, just accept it.

I don't see where people can come off and say that those who dislike Gravity are not true fans..... I don't like OLP's new direction as of right now, or Gravity compared to their past 4 albums.... So I am not a true fan right? Bull Shit.... I just don't like Gravity..... That shouldn't make me a bad person or someone who should leave the board because I post negative comments about an album that lacked creativity. I like all the rest of those who disliked Gravity, am just someone who knows that OLP has come out with 4 amazing albums and #5 was just missing what made them so damn unique.
What I felt before was wrong, I told myself all along, these familiar feelings take away the pain. And with this reason to rebel, I told you how I felt, you turned and sighed and said you couldn't feel a thing for me. And I lost another wish in all of this.
I do like Gravity but I do agree that it is not as good as the rest of their albums. As far as Steve goes this is his first tour and his first time being famous. We should give him a break and their next album and tour will probably be better because Steve will know more songs and be used to touring and stuff.

Yeah, well, that would require me putting blind faith in the live show. I don't think I can do that again. I mean, seeing them live was fun, but the same songs got annoying. I chose to pay to see the shows though, so it was my fault.
I guess I would see them live, but that depends if I even like the new album in 2017. If I don't, then I don't see myself going to a live show again. I couldn't handle having to hear 6 new songs (if they aren't good, for all I know it might be amazing) along with at least two from Gravity. I dunno, I would go to the show just for the chance of seeing Blister. I'll never fucking see it, but whatever.

I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
they need to throw more b-sides into the mix for sure
yea hearing somewhere out there, innocent, etc. is ok, but christ i wanna hear the GOOD songs..
aka blister, julia, dirty walls, neon crossing, stealing babies..... hell.... they dont even play mafia anymore really
ive seen them 14 times... from way back in 94 to now.... anyone who wants to argue that olp was not better back then step right up and get shut down.
the fact of the matter is that gravity ruined what the band was all about and has turned them into a corporate money maker. sad. very very sad.

Hmmm. He said he was a fan before he joined them...so....do you not think that he may have learnt the old OLP tunes before hand?

I think, along with a few other people, that him saying that stuff was just bullshit. I doubt he was a "big fan" who just happened to be a friend of a friend of the band. He may have liked the music. Maybe even had some of the albums. But I doubt he was hardcore like us.

big_green_monkey wrote:psycho groupie wrote:3) I have to disagree on the Live CD being mostly gravity songs. there are 16 songs on LIVE- only 5 are form gravity and 1 post gravity the rest (10) songs are pre-gravity. Last time I checked 10 was more then 5. SO how can it be mostly Gravity songs. There are more songs from 1995-2001 era, then gravity.
there are 14 tracks and 15 songs on live. there are 5 from gravity, 2 from naveed, 2 from clumsy, 2 from happiness, 2 from sm and 2 rarities. the number of gravity songs shouldn't be compared to how many other songs there are but how many others were chosen from different albums. apparently there are more than twice as many songs from gravity than there are from any other album on there, therefore it is mostly from gravity.
plus, why didn't you ever use any question marks?
I said there were more songs from the 1995-2001 era.. I really don't understand why everyone is up in arms with Gravity. It is so sad how it is over a year and people haven't gotten over it. THey have made 6-7 songs since Gravity.
as for comparing the number of songs off each individual ablum as to Gravity is odd. I am going overall songs, not each CD. It seems that people are only happy now when complaining. I mean this CD and DVD were recorded during the Gravity tour. In that case then I should complain about every other act who relased a live CD from the tour of some CD I didn't like cause mostly songs are from that CD.
What OLP have done with the live CD, DVD is nothing new. Everyband does it. U2 just released a DVD, so If I didn;t like that tour, I can complain they only did mostly songs off that tour. THat is stupid.
I am not calling any of you stupid, but the whole idea to say that since 5 songs were from Gavity while there were only 2 off each other cd is stupid. It is still more stuff from the first four cd's overall.
I never said you guys weren't fans. I said fans accept the good and the bad. TOo many people are ready to give up on OLP cause in thier opinion GRAVITY sucked. That is all I was saying about fans. A fan wouldn't be ready to give up cause they didn't like one piece of work.
As for Stve being a fan-he was. I hav eone question, why is Steve less of afan then any of us. A fan is someone who likes the music, supports the band. Just because he didn't POST or anything like that doesn't make him less of a fan. Plus he did get into OLP through a mutual friend(musician who worked with OLP in the past). Steve also knows alot more songs then you think. Did you ever think that it is Jeremy, Raine and Duncan who didn't want to do the songs? Don't blame Steve for everything. That isn't fare to place all the blame on him.

Dragon, "Gravity is not Our Lady Peace"??
Come on man.........Old OLP does not exist. Maybe we should make a new board for OLP geezers so they can reminisce about the good old days.
I understand that people don't like Gravity. And yes, I agree that you can still be a hardcore fan and not like Gravity, BUT, I disagree with people living in the past and constantly criticizing. Constructive criticism is great, but a lot of people instead choose to complain with an incessant frequency. I do not think this is the trademark of a true fan. A fan has faith. I'm not saying to like everything, but constantly ripping them does not make you a fan either.

I am waiting to see if you get ripped to shreds for saying that, cause if I did.
I agree with you on a few things. While I don'tt think that Gravity was thier best work-I didn't hate it. I accept it for what it is. Just one piece of work in OLP's careeer. I still love the live shows. Nothing is really predictable
now is it. It is live-anything can happan.
Hey Rob
If you dislike Gravity, how can you like NOT ENOUGH live? Isn't Steve doing the SAME guitar SOLO there. Isn't the band doing the same thing there and you hate predictablity here.
