Why is everyone so negative about OLP lately?

As do I. I suppose if any pop rock band can last more than 15 years, everyone is supposed to lose opinions about music and just say they're good.

I don't think U2 is all that legendary because of one word. Discotechque.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

I still have faith. We have heard, what, 4 new songs, and they probably aren't even done yet. I mean, the lyrics don't even make sense. Gravity's lyrics were simple, but they did make sense.

I also believe it is wrong to blame it completely on Bob Rock. Yes, I believe he is the big reason for the change. But it wasn't entirely him. Remember, Mike (likely) believed this could work, only after a few months did he leave.

I guess my gripe is that I find it hard to believe that after years of writing mind-numbing songs that Raine Maida is completely out of "All My Friends"s', "Car Crash"s', "Stealing Babies"s', and the like. For this I blame Bob Rock. I think Raine is discouraged to present ideas like these songs.

I don't discount Bob's talent, I just think he is wrong for Our Lady Peace.

No, I'm not in the league. I never signed up. I suppose I could join right now if you have an odd number of teams. If not, I am uber unprepared for this draft.

And I'm sorry, that entire album was flat out ass.

Don't mention it. I wouldn't wanna fuck up the league by having like 9 teams. That will just cause problems.

I see them as a good band. I don't see what all the hooplah around them really is. Sure, Bono can sing, and they can play music, that's great. But I think the fact that they make popular rock music and have been around for more than 10 or 15 years, they have to be seen as legendary. It's like Aerosmith. I love their music, but do I think they're the "greatest American rock band" ever? No. They get that name because they've been playing for nearly 30 years now.

I like some U2 songs, but many just piss me off. I can't even explain why. And i watched this concert on tv where bono pulled some chick from the audience and started making out with her. I hated him ever since.

Maybe U2 are better than OLP in terms of music but personally, I like OLP a lot more. 8-) If a song lacks complex lyrics or "Mike guitar riffs", Raine's voice makes up for it. I don't know anyone else who sounds like Raine.
And if I don't make it known that
I've loved you all along
Just like sunny days that
We ignore because
We're all dumb and jaded
And I hope to God I figure out
What's wrong

meh U2 are respectable but they have alot of hype, i think the reason they were so big is because they were one ofteh few bands from the 80's that DIDN'T suck, hmmm hopfully raine doesn't read this forum....i could just picture him showing up and throwing a hissy fit....i would if people were trashing my favorite band

Good point. I forgot about Good Charlotte, even though I hate them passionately.

I guess Shawn Desman's album wasn't better than Gravity either. My bad...
