I didnt expect to find a copy of the book any where. I was actually surprised when I saw it sitting there. I bought it impulsively.

noooooooooo.......although just off the copies that HAVE been sold already, J.K. Rowling has already made over 50 million dollars, I think thats what I heard on Fox News.

because they printed some exceprts from the book :roll:

Like come on!! Jeebus lady!! Are you' only gonna sell 800 million copies of the book instead of the originaly predicted 900 million? :roll:

Like thats gonna hinder book sales. :roll:

I would have sued them as well .. it's pure stupidity on both the store that sold the copies and the newspaper that published a couple of pages of the book .. for one thing, the books came in boxes taped up that said "DO NOT OPEN UNTIL JUNE 21ST" I saw the boxes at my local bookstore. Now I guess the owners of that store couldn't read? I dunno .. then the main reason JK is so upset, is not because she's afraid it may have hindered the book sales, but because of the many people who may have read the 2 PAGES of the book the paper published, giving away an important part of the book ... thus, ruining the book for many people. People have been waiting 3 years for this book .. then to stumble on PAGES of the book in a newspaper?? Yeah, I would have been extremely pissed if I had read that newspaper and found out what happened before reading the book too.

I ordered the British version off bleeping Amazon which indeed sent on Saturday but won't arrive until between the 30th and the 2nd, cuz I ordered it directly from the UK, so if there's anything remotely resembling a spoiler until after both the countries most-represented on this board have their July holidays (as in, definitely after Canada Day, most likely after the fourth,) there will be some ass-whipping.

I couldn't hold out after hearing that I wouldn't receive the book until next week, so I bought it this morning. The receipt says 10:30, and it's now 7:30, and I've already finished, with breaks to eat, get pissed off because I have to remake this bead necklace and other beads are now strewn all over my floor, ice my left knee, and shower, since I went to the gym before the bookstore. And I've also watched three half-hour TV shows and part of SportsCenter.

Emily: for the first four books, there was a very distinct British and American version. The British version is the one sold in Canada, and the American version is sold, err, south of the Canadian border. They're not really that different except for different covers, different punctuation, the occasional letter U, and what I call bad grammar, the latter two characteristics of the British version. Of course, the Brits don't call it bad grammar

And I also noticed a paragraph in the American version of Chamber of Secrets that's nowhere to be found in the British version.

I was talking to a bookstore clerk this morning when I was debating buying the book, and she told me that since J.K. Rowling got the final version into the publishers in January, there wasn't enough time to change over the British slang. So this time, besides the cover, there's really no difference.

I hope I can give one of my copies away...my mother and I now have three copies between us, including my British version.
