For getting jobs in teaching it really depends what your teachable areas are. If you have something like physics and math then you won't have a really tough time getting a job simply because most anyone with a physics degree can get better money elsewhere. But if you have something like history and english you've got more of a problem because that area is more or less saturated.

About there being a higher demand in 4-5 years: that's correct. A lot of teachers are getting ready to retire. By the time I could get my degree and teacher's certificate (4-5 years) about half (or more) of the teachers that I had in my highschool will be retired.

That's good, that way by the time I would get finished (if that's what I decide to do) there would be ample openings.

Does anyone know what careers are available in criminal psychology?

With forensic biology you could probably do CSI-ish stuff or maybe even anthropology (but you might want to major in anthropology if you want a career in that). :)

kinda off topic but i'm a Swimming instructor and i really enjoy teaching, the only thing you have to watch out for is, teaching the same thing over and over get boring, and also it's REALLY hard failing a kid that you've become attached to :(

you have to learn to seperate the social aspect from the educational aspect.

We have peer evaluations at my school for presenations and such and I've failed a lot of people on them, people i've grown up with. My friends are all at least 90% students so i think in like 8 years I've only given less than a 60 to one of them maybe once or twice. Thats the sign of a good teacher in my opinion, someone who can distinguish the person from the student.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

I'd like to become a prof of philosophy if I can. I'm just not sure I'm quite smart enough, so in all likeliness I'll end up being something else. But that's my current plan.

I have no idea what to be but all my friends have decided that I must become and English professor. I think my friend actually told me, "you have to become an english professor or I will be very upset and sulk for many days."

Speaking of that, you should watch "Blood in the Wire", it's on showcase Tuesday's from 10-12. It follows the life of this super interesting Criminal Psychologist who is like the best. ever. It's a really interesting show, it's british so the stories are really interesting and make you think/leave you guessing till the last 5 mins. I would love to what that guy does, it just seems so interesting to me..but I'm off to Western to study MIT, another aspiration of mine [media, public relations, something to do with music, communications, etc]

Sorry 'bout that random ranbling, but if you're interested in Criminal Psych., you'd probably love this show :)
