For getting jobs in teaching it really depends what your teachable areas are. If you have something like physics and math then you won't have a really tough time getting a job simply because most anyone with a physics degree can get better money elsewhere. But if you have something like history and english you've got more of a problem because that area is more or less saturated.
About there being a higher demand in 4-5 years: that's correct. A lot of teachers are getting ready to retire. By the time I could get my degree and teacher's certificate (4-5 years) about half (or more) of the teachers that I had in my highschool will be retired.

kinda off topic but i'm a Swimming instructor and i really enjoy teaching, the only thing you have to watch out for is, teaching the same thing over and over get boring, and also it's REALLY hard failing a kid that you've become attached to

you have to learn to seperate the social aspect from the educational aspect.
We have peer evaluations at my school for presenations and such and I've failed a lot of people on them, people i've grown up with. My friends are all at least 90% students so i think in like 8 years I've only given less than a 60 to one of them maybe once or twice. Thats the sign of a good teacher in my opinion, someone who can distinguish the person from the student.

I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

Does anyone know what careers are available in criminal psychology?
Speaking of that, you should watch "Blood in the Wire", it's on showcase Tuesday's from 10-12. It follows the life of this super interesting Criminal Psychologist who is like the best. ever. It's a really interesting show, it's british so the stories are really interesting and make you think/leave you guessing till the last 5 mins. I would love to what that guy does, it just seems so interesting to me..but I'm off to Western to study MIT, another aspiration of mine [media, public relations, something to do with music, communications, etc]
Sorry 'bout that random ranbling, but if you're interested in Criminal Psych., you'd probably love this show
