For what I am talking about, 19 is the drinking age, and that's what I am concerned with for now.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
Superman wrote:They need an anti-teenybopper. Like a senile old man who enjoys listening to OLP while taking out his teeth. Or adults trying to listen to what their kids are listening to to be more "with it". Then they can say funny phrases like, I like those Old Lady Pee boys, they still have their youth. The old woman can think Raine is hot, and it will be less offensive, because most elderly ladies think lots of younger men are handsome. Older people in general would make the whole teenybopper thing a lot more acceptable. Who's with me, all we need is a good size bus, some volunteers to kidnap our grandparents, and either OLP themselves or their cds handy. Oh, ever since the Elderboppers came along all those OLP sellout topics died. I can see it now.
HAHAH, thank you for that. This thread needed it.
And, I'm in. But we need the real guys, not just the cds. I mean, hey, we're already kidnapping our grandparents, might as well go for the band, too. And, could you imagine their faces when they walk on stage to a crowd of people all over the age of 70?!?!

i think that would be a great concept for one of their videos.

Goddamnit, I live a good 10 minutes from Windsor, so it looks like I'll be waiting another year to drink....meh....

I don't know what to think anymore. The reason I liked OLP in the first place was b/c I could relate to the lyrics and I appreciated talented musicians. Besides, they used to be "weird". Maybe that's not the right term, but they were.... different. From anything I'd heard at the time. And now I can't say that I know where they're headed. Clumsy was on the cutting edge at the time, something edgy and fresh. But it's not 1997 anymore, and OLP has grown up. I guess I never expected them to stray far away from Canada, you know? But it's a different time now, and if they're proud of themselves, then so be it. Sometimes I think we're way too hard on "our" band though. I mean, I listen to plenty of other bands, but I don't really care where they're headed as much as I care about OLP. I think I'm just going to accept the fact that they like the music they're making; because I still own the 4 previous albums, and they're good enough for me.

I was then to be part of the mystery,
to love and be loved. Let's just hope that is enough.
My 19th birthday I was all excited about being able to buy my own alcohol .. and they didn't even i.d me .. I was dying to whip out my i.d and show them .. and they didn't even ask for it .. bastards .. ruined all the fun
this isn't a post about this whole sell out issue.
this is me talking about "teeny boppers".
i DONT think it's fair for some of you to come on here saying that 14 and 15 year old girls that find raine hot aren't real fans.
i'm 15 years old. i think raine is very attractive. does this make me not a real fan? i think not.
i first started listening to OLP when i was 8. for some reason, i doubt i liked them then because raine was extremely hot. but, i also doubt that i was intrigued by the deep lyrics at the age of 8. i just liked the music. as i grew up, i still listened to them and as i got older the lyrics meant more and more to me. it's just what i grew up with, and that's why im such a huge fan. NOT because i think raine is hot.
if you were to see me walking down the street, im sure all of you would pass me off as a typical teenage girl who worries about boys, clothes, and her appearance. i'm sure that's what i look like. but there's more to me than that. OLP means so much to me. the music and the lyrics has impacted me and my life so much. it's helped me get through very hard times.
this probably didnt make too much sense. what im trying to say is-- the whole teeny bopper label is a bunch of bullshit.
you have to, you just have to trust me
whoever i was then i can't ever be again
the faith you've found i've never felt
the terror held in wedding bells
the comfort in "there's no one else"
the truth be told, i'm never going to know
I'm a 22 year old guy and I think raine is......wait..........I mean just because you are a 15 year old girl and think raine is attractive means jackshit. If anyone criticizes you for being a teeny bopper than they are the ones proving their own immaturity. I could care less who likes Our Lady Peace.
This isn't an elitist organization as someone else mentioned. Even if a 15 year old girl thought Raine was quite the stallion upon first glance it might actually be a good thing, because then they would download OLp's music and really understand what they are trying to say.
I think a lot of our beloved teeny boppers take a lot of flack from a few not so intelligent members. And OLP's music is largely directed at teenagers. I don't understand why it gets them angry?? It makes me laugh. And even if a girl just liked Somewhere Out There and drooled over Raine then while big friggin whoopity do da. Does it ruin your life?? does it make OLP less meaningful??.....Apparently it does for some, and I think that's a "young" attitude to have.

Yeah, you got a point there, it is bull shit, there arent any 15 year old girls who deserve the label teeny bopper.... wait a tick what am i saying!?
suck it up and quit whining, or if need be do it quietly somewhere else... preferably in a corner or at your local 7-11
i didnt say that there arent any 15 year old girls who deserve the label.
im just saying that stating that every 15 year old girl that thinks raine is hot isn't a true fan and is a teeny bopper.
THAT is what's bullshit.

who gives a flying fuck about the fans, teeny or otherwise? why the hell does this matter to so many people? if you like the music, like it, and don't worry about what the hell anybody else thinks about it.
if somebody wants to listen to OLP just because raine's hot, that's their perogative. why the fuck should that matter to you?
