No...they have lost some credibility since Emtee left but what are you going to do.

this stuff needs to stop we dont need 1000 threads about OLP selling out again. We went through this during the release of Gravity.

*sigh* I hate the term selling out .. basically whenever a band starts getting popular, people start bitching .. it's sad really. Touring with Creed and Avril are not bad things .. touring with popular bands will help OLP gain more fans and since OLP has made it quite clear they want a bigger fan base outside of Canada this isn't a bad thing .. they're big boys now and let's hope they can make their own decisions about the bands they tour with .. no blame should be placed on Bob Rock .. OLP are not puppets controlled by Bob, I'd like to think they're still able to think for themselves and make their own decisions on things.

I barely see OLP on the Canadian Much Music station nevermind MTV where they get even less play so no problem there ..

of all the bands i hear the phrase selling out being thrown at, sadly, i think it fits our lady peace best.

i mean, they completely changed their sound, lyrics, image, EVERYTHING.

and mike said he would leave if our lady peace started being about something other than the music. and, well, he's gone.

does anyone find it ironic that OLP are opening for Avril? in 97' when Avril was growing up OLP were the biggest thing in Canada since sliced bread, now they're considered second rate dying canadian icons......maybe that was a bit harsh but.....

you can't say the band is better with steve.

they haven't recorded an album with steve.

the band is NOT better without mike, though. gravity is proof.

Have you seen Steve live in concert?

His solo's?

The tweaks and twists he adds to each song?

yes i have. don't get me wrong. steve owns me.

but it doesn't change the fact that gravity sucks.

and it doesn't cure my fear that our lady peace is gone for good.

You know. You guys are scaring me. I originally just thought, "Oh god, why did Sony do this to OLP... Avril?!?! Ugh!!!" But now you've got me all paranoid that they're sellouts and gonna end their career and crap. :( Apoligize!! Now!!!!

Hehe, just kidding.

Relax, it's just Sony. Like I've said before, bands for the most part have no choice about when and where they tour, and who with. It's just the way the industry works. I wasn't exactly happy when Silverchair opened for Blink-182 (although, I like Blink, just the fact that they're not the same type of music at all, and Blink was really really trendy at the time), but you know what? After that tour, everything was fine. :) While I *hate* the fact that OLP's opening for Avril, it'll be ok.

Although, it probably won't gain OLP many fans, honestly. Their music is way to different from Avril's. Her fans aren't there to listen to rock music with meaning and emotion behind it, they're there to listen to crappy pop... err, sorry, that was my opinion getting in the way... haha, ignore it... anyway, they're there to listen to pop music and have a good time. So, everyone saying it'll be good for OLP... it probably won't. But, it won't be a bad thing, either. It's just another tour... that happens to be a very odd (and disturbing... ack, there's that pesky personal opinion again ) pairing.

It is good exposure for OLP. They're not known at all in Europe and Avril is pretty big. And not only by 14 year old girls, remember this is in Europe, not in the States. I don't think they'll gain many fans from Avril's audience (unless Raine starts acting like Brandon Boyd), but they'll be acknowledged by the press who'll go see the show.
