Setlist Discussion for the next OLP tour.

Post by Flea21212 »

With a new album due out sometime in the next few months (crossing fingers), and at least one new tour date for the summer it's time to think about what songs will be played (as has already been discussed vigorously) on their next tour

However, to add a new twist, what songs do you think OLP should stop playing this year? Like a song that has been a staple in their line up for years (e.i. starseed, naveed, clumsy) that could be put away at least for a little while?

Along with what ONE song would you like to see them bring back that they haven't played in the last few years (or at least not often)?

And last but not least, what song MUST stay in the setlists?

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing "Superman's Dead" put away for a little while, I mean yeah I really love the song and enjoy hearing it live, however it's one of those songs that you hear at every OLP show you go to. Like thier trademark song. I also wouldn't mind seeing Innocent go, but that just because I think the song is weak not because it's become a keystone in the setlist night to night

For a song I would like to see OLP bring back, there's so many choices, but I'm gonna say Automatic Flowers, just cos it's pure OLP kinda weird, but still rocking.

And the song that MUST stay in the setlist, for me would be "Are You Sad" the song just adds so much emotion to the show, it starts out slow then builds into this beautiful song.

I agree that Are You Sad needs to stay in the setlist. Mainly because it's my favourite OLP song :D. As for a song that needs to come out of the setlist. Somewhere Out There. Something I'd like to see brought back... either Car Crash, Stealing Babies or, Julia.
Some of you probably think I left. But was I ever here to start?

THANK YOU!!!

Honestly, this is a song I go "Uugh," to. Seriously. Anyways, I don't have much time, and this was the first song I thought of. I'll think of something else later.

I'd like to see them randomly select songs and play them. Of course you'd have to have the "vitals" that you'd always play through out the tour like 4:AM, Is Anybody Home, Naveed ect ect, but along side the 6-10 songs they would always play, the rest should be randomly selected. Now that would keep things fresh and interesting.

I'd like to see OLP/fan created setlist for shows. OLP will choose some songs that they want to play, then they let the fans choose the other songs.

I'd like to hear Hello Oskar, Stealing babies and Denied

They need to drop Whatever. I would rather have heard Thief, Automatic Flowers, or A Story About A Girl.

Am I the only one who doesn't care what they play, just as long as they play?

Get Rid of Innocent
Add Neon Crossing and In Repair (I could not choose only one)
Must Stay - Starseed

And I am all for them rotating about 6 songs into maybe 3 spots on the setlist each night, just to keep us guessing
Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?

Am I the only one that actually likes Whatever? More than most of the songs off Gravity.

Well, I have to expect that several Gravity songs will also be dropped. Too bad they won't pick the right ones. Whatever isn't bad, but they do play a lot better songs than it sometimes. You can't say that you would rather hear Whatever than Thief.

Just to clearify, what i'm asking for:

As a song to drop from the setlist, i'm asking for a song that they've played many times before this year. So "Innocent" or "Somewhere Out There" really wouldn't count cos they only started playing them last year. (yeah you can not like hearing the song live, as I kinda cringe anyways when I hear the drum beat to innocent). But like I said i'm lookng for a song that has been at almost every show for years. Therefore "Gravity" and "SM" songs really wouldn't count.

I liked Whatever the first time, but it's too repetitive for me.

Stuck inside of this.

So i guess we really can't say any of the gravity or sm songs. Well, you tell us what you'd like us to put in since it is your thread and all :P

I would like to see Is Anybody Home off the setlist. I love the song, but I can't stand it when everyone screws up the lyrics in the chorus.

I think they should resurrect Stealing Babies. I think Steve could do really well with this one.

And I'd like Clumsy to stay on the setlist. You just expect to hear it. I'd feel cheated if it wasn't played.

I wouldn't want them to take out Superman's Dead. I mean, just listen to the live album. While Raine plays his mini-solo there's just some random cheering, but when the first few chords start up, the crowd practically explodes. If they hadn't played that at the concert I went to I would have been disapointed, but then again since I'm unable to go to a lot of their shows, them having a variation in setlist isn't really essential to me. The time I went, I was disapointed that Thief and Automatic Flowers weren't played, and I would have liked to see Annie, but I wasn't expecting them to play it. So, yeah. . . thats my two cents worth or whatever.

Steve did alright with Stealing Babies when I saw them, but it was better with Mike and the extended outro. I think that one is my Mike song.
