NEW SINGLE Discussion!

Well, seing as no one has made a thread about it yet... what does everyone think about "Where are You" being the new single?

Personally I really REALLY hope that the clip on the hub isn't what it's gonna sound like. I thought "The Best Day of Your Life" was pretty damn awesome - everything - bass, vocals etc. just molded perfectly into a energetic kick-ass song. Now this new chorus makes me feel rather uneasy... it seems really awkwardly placed, the lyrics are like a 100 times worse, but most of all it loses alot of the pure rockin energy in the first clip.

Of course, we've only heard clips of the two versions of the songs (still 1 minute is already like 1/3 of the song) and there's always the arguement that you can't really judge until listening to the whole song - but from what I've heard of the new chorus ...my fear is that OLP will mess up would could be an awesome single.

(ah well, as long as nothing bad like this happens to all the other songs we've heard on promosquad... this next album will be seriously awesome)

I myself like the new version. I like the </b>SONS AND DAUGHTERS</B>bit a lot and also the <B>Where are you?</B>bit. I would have liked if they kept the original but just added the new stuff but still, it's not bad in my opinion and is perfect for a first single. And it's true we haven't heard the whole song, but I'm guessing that there's going to be like at least 1 or 2 minutes left of it hopefully.

no, no, i really don't like the new version, i liked the old version and i hoped they'd stick to it, but it looks like they won't. and i'm pissed, and it's early.

I have not heard a single clip of their new stuff because i'd rather just wait and see how the whole album turns out. If everything's like holyawesome! then i'll go back and find older versions of the songs. yep.

If I am not mistaken "Best Day of your life" finished last in the new clips poll. I don't understand how it could be chosen as a first single with it receiving a sub par rating. I thought the main purpose of the poll was to get feedback from the fans. I was really digging the original holiday version of " Best day of your life", maybe they will add it as a hidden track. Wishful thinking

Well, maybe since on the CC, the majority of people hate Gravity... and because Gravity did so well... they did the polls as a sort of "reverse psychology" type thing. The song voted for least becomes the single. :lol:

the thing that bugs me the most is how they change the songs for the worse (best day of your life, wipe that smile, not afraid, etc)

I'm still not convinced they actually changed anything on where are you. But I do like the cheesy synth underneath the chorus. Sounds like they were influenced by Mates of State.

I haven't liked this Best Day song since they changed it after the Christmas greeting. I have yet to hear the new one hmm.
