Well they said they wanted to record together. They probably have. I'd imagine they have a whole library of stuff they've worked on together but don't want to release because of timing. Making a record doesn't make you money anyways... It's the touring that does that, and they would have to tour together with the baby, which might not be the best idea considering he's not even one yet.

Raine will probably produce Chantal's next album (if and whenever that happens), and we'd probably see a few songs done together on that as a seguay into a complete album done together.

Music is a business when you get down to it. It's all about money. If it wasn't, no one would sign to labels. The second you sign to a label, or tour, its about the money. If anyone tells you different, you might want to give your head a shake.

I think it is great that Raine is making a name for himself as a producer. He's at a point where he has to start thinking about money- being in a CanRock band named Our Lady Peace doesn't make you rich for a lifetime. He has a family to support and if by producing artists such as Lavigne and Clarkson makes him money, why not? Plus, has anyone really listened to Avril's new album? I hate to say it, but it really isn't that bad. So what if Avril has an image of being a hardass or whatever- the next time you listen to her, listen to her music, don't look at her style. she really isn't that bad of an artist. also, to win american idol, you have to have a good voice- is that not obvious? sure, your appeal to a huge audience matters a lot too, but first and foremost, you have to sing well. Can you honestly say that she does not have a good voice? Sure, she may not be the best actor, but she has a beautiful voice.

anyways, go raine.
i'm glad he is looking toward a future without OLP.

hear hear!

the more i think about it, the less i care. just because he's producing the album doesn't mean that OLP will sound like it in their next endeavor. looking towards the future isn't a bad thing, i can't see raine going up on stage and doing the birdman dance at age 55. i'd like to, but i probably won't.

...and why is raine the whipped one, maybe Chantal's whipped. i mean did you guys see that little booklet in "what if it all means something..."? when she was giving the story about the songs almost all of them had raine in them...(sorry if none of this makes sense)

i dont believe in the "Sell Out" term... sorry

i feel that if a fan cared about more than just music (which some of you may not) then personal success would be wanted for the artist or band. and "going commercial" is this generations way of being successful. this isnt 10 years ago, this is 2004 and to become successful you have to sell and aim at a range of markets. otherwise you'll go bankrupt and fail at selling a good album.

i think...?

20 years ago, it was the same. theres just different people and ways of selling a record. nowadays theres MTV and VH1 and all these many many ways of being seen.

id personally, like to see Our Lady Peace be successful with this next album. if its their last. and if they're not aiming it at their 1997 audience then so be it. id rather they be happy and do what they want and be rewarded for it than have old fans complain about the music and not help them in progression

i think...?

I agree with ya'll. But I can't imagine Raine and Chantal not being rich. They could never work another day, live better than any of us, and still have money left over.

i don't agree with this. and if i thought that way i would probably not love music as much as i do. a lot of musicians want to make a living as an artist and it's not all about the money. who wouldn't want to do something they love for a living? a lot of people choose professions because they love it not because they'll be big and rich. there are a lot of bands out there besides olp who are not as rich and famous who KNOW they won't make a lot of money doing it, but they do because they love music and love making it.

You obviously have to make money to survive. A band could not last if they weren't making money as they would need to eat, have somewhere to live, etc. I'm talking about the common band as well. Not just Raine and Chantal.

Obviously the initial intention is to play music for the love of it. But eventually it comes to a point where if you're going to do that for a living you actually have to be making money and ensure that money will keep coming in. That's when it become a business/career.

why is this such a big deal to you people? WHO CARES?!?! is it such a shock that he MAY be into that kind of music? since when has it become the fan's job to interpret every little thing? he's producing another album, which may benefit him, i say good for raine. who cares if he's in it for the money? as a fan i couldn't care less. i'll support the band if he decides to produce celine dion! it doesn't take anything away from the core of OLP.

I'm assuming that's "forthcoming" as in the future, and not as in "Gravity, but we haven't updated this site in forever".
