credibility and making a name for yourself/making money are two different things. i disclaimered that with MY OPINION and i still stand by it. so NIAH.

Well, just my opinion (I know I'm late), but I don't think he loses any credibilty. Granted, I don't want to listen to it. But you can't blame him for wanting to get in on anything he wants to. I would totally do it and not feel the least bit sorry. It's not like Kelly's suckiness would ooze to him and effect him.

maybe credibility isn't the word. integrity? yes, that's it. i wish more artists would have integrity. i'd rather him be producing really good unknown acts and helping them make a name for themselves instead of producing acts such as kelly clarkson and avril lavigne.

I mean, many people on here would like to see OLP go back to work with Lanni, but doesn't Lanni produce some shitty band named "Simple Plan"?

i just want to comment on how it seems to me that it's Lanni who has the talent.

example the first: our lady peace
example the second: simple plan (whose second album doesn't compare to the first. and, incidently, it is produced by bob rock!)

and scene.
you have to, you just have to trust me
whoever i was then i can't ever be again
the faith you've found i've never felt
the terror held in wedding bells
the comfort in "there's no one else"
the truth be told, i'm never going to know

I don't get the whole anti-Avril movement here.

If you have heard absolutely anything from Avril since she has promoted her new album you should know that all she can talk about is her awesome friendship with Chantal Kreviazuk and how they would write songs together and all that crap. But when she was writing all that music she also lived with Raine and Chantal for like 7 monthes or so. So now that we've established that, how does Raine working on her album make him loose integrity? They are obviously great friends, so how is their working together bad? I know that has nothing to do with Kelly Clarkson but being Avril's producer is completly understandable.

Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire

(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

I don't see this as Raine losing any credibility, or integrity. He is out attempting to learn how to produce albums, possibly as a post-OLP career. As stated earlier, he is building a portfolio of artists. Hopefully he will improve his skills as a producer with each artist, and hopefully he can help the careers of those he works with. Again, how does developing a resume make you lose integrity? I see this as a very intelligent business move, as well as a job that is bringing him professional satisfaction as well.

do you have to produce crap like kelly clarkson to become a good producer? hell no, produce an up and coming canadian band or something in that vein, this is purely for money. is that fine? yes it is, but what i'm saying is that for me anyway (yes guys, that's right, FOR ME) i think it's really disheartening. i'm not speaking for anyone else BUT me. i personally like musicians not businessmen.

I fail to see why people are complainging about Raine producing for Miss Clarkson. Sure, it would be nice if he would work with real musicians but thats the way things are. So, I say chill out people.

I totally agree.

I think it is great that Raine is making a name for himself as a producer. He's at a point where he has to start thinking about money- being in a CanRock band named Our Lady Peace doesn't make you rich for a lifetime. He has a family to support and if by producing artists such as Lavigne and Clarkson makes him money, why not? Plus, has anyone really listened to Avril's new album? I hate to say it, but it really isn't that bad. So what if Avril has an image of being a hardass or whatever- the next time you listen to her, listen to her music, don't look at her style. she really isn't that bad of an artist. also, to win american idol, you have to have a good voice- is that not obvious? sure, your appeal to a huge audience matters a lot too, but first and foremost, you have to sing well. Can you honestly say that she does not have a good voice? Sure, she may not be the best actor, but she has a beautiful voice.

anyways, go raine.
i'm glad he is looking toward a future without OLP.

at least i could listen to avrils album and find a couple of decent songs on it......... i cant stand kelly clarkson and "her" shitty songs.

but yeah, seeing that he is a "new" producer, i understand him working with aritsts that other producers shove aside.

I want to know what happened to Raine's plans for his own record company thingy and the band (Evelyn) that he was working with.
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.
