That's the fun of a society based on fanatical puritans!

Really though, I agree with you on that.

its not so much the concept of a "sex scene". it was just out of place in this movie i thought, especially the way they drew it on with the rave and whatnot. just didnt fit.

i have to admit i found the sex scene/rave a bit tedious.

rarely do u see a movie that tries to mean so much, yet says so very little...

however, i did think it was quite entertaining (when it wasn't trying to be overly philosphical and sounding really stupid), and the highway scene was pretty incredibly done...but overall reloaded doesnt even come close to touch the original

also, Monica Bellucci is all kinds of hot

the philosophy in the movie is not stupid. this movie is about individualism and freedom, issues i consider to be incredibly relevant and meaningful.

head to thematrix.com and read some of the philosophy essays on there. this movie is no lightweight. it addresses metaphysics, morality and ethics.

just because it addresses it, doesnt mean it does it successfully

what do you mean by that comment bort?

what do you think about the issues adressed in the movie? how come you think the philosophical elements were done poorly?

o really?

The Matrix movie franchise has spun off an entirely new, well, rather, revionisit, system of idealist metaphysical beliefs. this is no small accomplishment. the "dream reality" metaphysical outlook has been explored by dozens of prominent metaphysicians today and expands upon ideas first put forth by george berkley.

secondly, while breaking no new ground in the realm of ethics and morality (it's basically repeating ayn rand), the movie's individualist message is no less significant. this is still a relevant philisophical issue as is the exploration of choices vs. control and interdependance. there is a strong underlying message in this movie and it presents a very deep allegory to modern political life.

the movie also briefly addresses conscioussness and being.

these movies have invented a new metaphysical system. the wachowski brothers are brilliant philosophers and are rightly regarded as so in the community. while i normally don't do this kind of "greatness by association" type of thing, i thought you might want to take a look at this list of people who also disagree with your assertion that the matrix is all meaningless fluff.

just because you may not neccessarily understand or appreciate something does not decrease it's intellectual significance. the movie was brilliant.

It took the idea old "brain in a vat" idea and expanded hugely upon the concept and it's implications... I think it's brilliant.

i honestly dont care who thinks what or agrees/disagrees with how i feel....
i have no problems at all with wachowski's trying to include their philosphy stuff in the movie...but i felt they could've done it better and could have tried at least to be more discreet about it...they tried sooo hard to overphilosophize everything and pound it into the audience's head that it heavily slowed down the movie and led to clunky dialogue that just sounded silly (in what was an otherwise entertaining movie)

also
dudez a plenti rules!
new eve 6 cd in late july! (i think)........the single, "think twice", should be hitting the radio pretty soon...
and last but not least...family guy sucks...biggest simpsons ripoff ever (sorry, i never miss a chance to rip on fg)

Now I have 3 reasons to prove your an idiot.
1.Your huge pointless sig.
2.You don't like Family guy, and call it a ripoff. (I will gladly debate this)
3.How your bring in a toally irrelevant topic for reasons unknown to me. Perhaps some sort of cheap shot?

:wtf:
