Atleast Burn Burn had the artwork going for it... That's about it. And Paper Moon.

Guys i told a million times...i think that Burn Burn is related to Curve for the way to make music! It's true that there a sort of outside producer but now they are "four guys in a room"(six plus Trusty and Jason Lader hahahah)...i told some time ago that Burn Burn was an album of perspective and that the results will come in Curve...and now i think that we heard Curve and we heard also the nature of the sound that is new, fresh but is also OLP....i think that is this the relation with Burn Burn!

Escape Artist was amazing, as well. Refuge was decent.

Right now, it seems my album order is:
1. Spiritual Machines
2. Happiness
3. Clumsy
4. Curve
5. Gravity
6. Healthy in Paranoid Times
7. Naveed
8. Burn Burn

Curve almost seems hard/ weird to categorize though...it's so different and crazy.

Allowance's intro always makes me think of the beginning of "Beat It" by Michael Jackson

Hey dudes, I'd appreciate not getting any more PMs about the album thanks :). I already took down my copy of the recordings not long after I sent a few out since it was entirely intended just for my close friends and I when I first made the rip but I felt like helping a few people here out. Besides, the quality isn't entirely amazing anyway (its a web rip lol) so its best to wait for the album anyway.

But anyway my copy is gone. I don't have it online anymore and my email inbox is filling up pretty quick haha.

As I go back in the OLP catalog, I didn't see any of the albums really coming close to what I heard on Curve aside from Burn Burn. It was hard to compare to anything in the catalog. I realize I'm a minority in saying I love Burn Burn. What I probably should have clarified is that it seemed to me to be a further departure and progression from what we were used to with Naveed, Clumsy, etc. When I listen to Curve and Burn Burn, they are almost an entirely different band with Raine on vocals. I want some ROCK! Some loud Monkey Brains guitars, Dirty Walls guitars, Neon Crossing guitars, etc. But it seems that chapter is over. I"m not sad about it, though, because it's like I'm just getting to know a new band.

Just finished my first listen. Best album they've put out in 12 years. I really liked not knowing where the songs were going to go.

Allowance is the only song I'm still not feeling... I also don't have the love for If This Is It that everyone else has right now (still a good song though). As for Mettle: its not bad at all, but I don't really see myself playing it consistently. IMO, it would have worked better as an intro track to some final song. I could see As Fast as You Can making a splash on the radio (am I the only one who could see it as an Arkells song?). We already know Heavyweight is good. I was also really surprised by Fire in the Henhouse. While of course I still love The Wolf's badass, passionate chorus, FITHH definitely works... that "happens deep inside our bones" part gave me chills. You can definitely feel the emotion in Will Someday Change.. very moody stuff. Find Our Way was ALL OVER THE PLACE. Great song. Rabbits is a beautiful song as well.. definitely Pink Floyd-ish.

It took some time, but the band is back.

Whoever used the word "eerie" to describe Curve was spot on... At least the first four tracks (that's as far as I've gotten so far). I love the effect of Raine's falsetto underscoring his main vocals. Very unique and interesting, and just a little bit creepy, in a good way.

I've gotta say, I've been a fan for ten years, and I really did not expect this. I'm loving it! And I'm really hoping they come to North Carolina 'cuz I haven't seen them since the Gravity days!

On another note: the word "bones" is officially the new "satellite."

lol. Guess we've gone from the obsession with space to an obsession with the human body (bones+god shaped hole)

I agree with your previous statement of "the band is back".

I have enjoyed every album and respect their progression. Curve is what I would consider an all new Our Lady Peace and I love that.

The band has matured in a way that they seem happy with their identity as musicians and are just going to do whatever the hell they like. That's all I can ask of them. Especially when it sounds so wonderful.
Every line I've crossed has come undone, everything I know is somehow wrong.

My first pass trying to figure out the lyrics. Many question marks so far. What do other people hear?

ALLOWANCE

[Skies? / Stars?] like angels turn to rust
We hide inside our pickup trucks
Thoughts heavy like aeroplanes
Come crashing down and burst in flames
Memories, I'd cash them in for peace of mind
And someday [?]

No turning back
I'm starting to mend
A fortunate man I've always been
I tear at my heart
If I do concede
I'm only as good as you allow me to be

Friends will come and friends will go
You, my friend [?]
Raindrops plummet from the sky
Inside my lungs a bitter cry

Oh I'm starting, starting, starting to mend
As you allow me to be

[Skies? / Stars?] like angels turn to rust
We hide inside our pickup trucks

FIRE IN THE HEN HOUSE

Fire in the hen house
Protests in the deep south
Shangri-La in reverse
Time to call the wet nurse
Markets on the rebound
Riots in the ghost towns
Dirty little secrets
Always change and change and change

Accelerate, they must accelerate
Hesitate, mustn't hesitate
Recalculate, must recalculate where we've gone wrong
Happens deep inside our bones

[?] on dust clouds
Working for the rebound
The casual acquaintance
The dirty leaky basements
They're calling on the reserves
The famous [?]
The crafty shape-shifters
Always change and change and change

I see you change
See you change

WINDOW SEAT

I can feel the knives in my back, in my sides
As my body slowly fades
Can you reach into time?
Bring me back here [a line? alive? a light?]
Set the ocean's tides straight?

One by one we fall asleep like passengers in window seats
I know I should go but I stay
One by one we float away like accidents and castaways
I know I should go but I stay, I stay

I can hear the sounds as the wheels hit the ground
My bones begin to break
My bones begin to break

AS FAST AS YOU CAN

I know a girl, got a long snake moan
A fever in her head and a restless soul
I got a feeling that the church don't know
What the church don't know, the church don't mind
We all work and borrow time

Girl, you run as fast as you can
Don't give up, we'll always be friends, yeah
Run as fast as you, run as fast as you can

I know a girl, got a long snake moan
Got the voodoo in her hips and a god-shaped [home? hole???]
I got a feeling that the kids don't know
What the kids don't know, the kids don't mind
We all work and borrow time

Every dog will have its day

IF THIS IS IT

I could be your greatest accident
I could be the blood on your fingertips
Nothing's wrong
Nothing to regret
Just want to breathe you in

If this is it

I could be your greatest confidant
And I could be the head laying no your breast
Just want to breathe you in

The light
The love
The [hope is near?]
The [?]
It disappears
If this is it

I could be...

WILL SOMEDAY CHANGE

You say that love is a disease
Restless in its company
Like a river to the sea is where you run
You say that all the birds have flown
The heart an antique turned to stone
There is comfort in this great unknown

And all that you've known
All that you say
All that you've known will someday change

You say forgiveness don't last long
You hear the ticking of the bomb
Leaves you wondering where it all went wrong

Light lead us [on? all?] like harmless spirits traveling

FIND OUR WAY

Hang me up to dry with your clothes
Drink away the fear in my bones
Save me from this ugly landfill
Sun will scare away this winter chill

We love before we hate
And bend before we break
[?]
And walk before we'll run
Find our way home again, home again
Find our way home again, home again

Lead me to your watering hole
Watch me clean and fix what I got broke
Leave me like a drifter out at sea
Tangled like my father's rosary

Find our way home

RABBITS

See the light in the distance
Ten seconds from sleep
If you blink you could miss it
Voluntarily
If you're told that you're missing
Better call the police

Hopelessly lost at sea
The holes we dig to survive
Like rabbits we run

Gonna join the resistance
Gonna tighten that leash
Try and find some persistence
Temporarily
If you're told that you'll miss it
Better ramp up your speed

The light of day
The dark of night
We [?] our heads keeping our dreams alive

METTLE

How do we agree?
How do we exceed?
[?] that our lives have taken
Sharpened instruments
Failed experiments
Faces of the occupation

Boxing helps. I guess, I think it toughens your mind. I think you push yourself beyond certain limits, past [?]. The worst thing in the world is to be in a fight and to get tired. You don't want to get tired in a fight.

Say that you could show me
You don't know me
You [want to live oh?]
Say that you can owe [own?] me
You think you know me
But you're wrong

No matter how much natural ability you have there's a lot of working at it. You know, you don't need... Muhammad Ali was a great fighter but if he didn't train as hard as he did, he... [you'd never hear the name?] Muhammad Ali [?]. You have to train hard, you have to devote yourself one hundred percent.

You can't be a success if you [?] discipline. You need discipline to do things. And the discipline is you do it without things, you know?

No matter if we say we believe this, we believe that, you know... there's certain things we believe. But just how strongly we believe is a matter, you know... it's what we want to believe. A force much stronger than us, a power much more powerful, you know? But we still don't know. No matter how much we think we believe, we still tremor at the thought of dying. [?] we shiver [?] almost died, you know? There's something out there. To me it's like the great unknown. You know? I don't know.

One of the most important things in life is to have people who care about you, and you care about, you know... Love is the magic word, it is, you know? If it wasn't for love I wouldn't be here today.
