On second listen, If This Is It stands out even more. I know they've changed their approach to doing live shows and doing alternate sets but if they go back to playing the same songs every night, this has to become one of them!

if this is it starts off really mellow and kinda generic (never really liked the opening lyric "i could be your greatest accident", kinda corny), but it becomes fucking epic when it kicks into gear.

Okay, since I am a son of a bitch of a critic, I will give my little review based on the sort of non 100% quality rip. I'm sure the official will be clearer and what not, but no matter.

Allowance - That opening tone makes me feel like I'm about to stop on an alien ship. Starts off the album nicely.
Fire In The Henhouse - It's an alright song...I mean, that opening guitar just feels so cliche, but then it gets in to a great song. It has that sort of Monkey Brains feel as if it was rehashed and made in to this song.
Heavyweight - Obviously, brilliant. I even like that remix on the OLP website. The opening guitar on that transformed in to a house synth worked fantastically.
Window Seat - Interestingly, this song makes me feel like I'm on a road trip with friends across the country. If the Book/Movie 'On The Road' had a theme song, it should be this one. The progressing acoustic guitar with the trance like electric echoing sounds amazing.
As Fast As You Can - This song is all over the place different for OLP. At first it reminded me of that song they play in all the NATIONAL LAMPOON VACATION films. But the chorus sounds like The Cure. It has that influence of old time OLP.
If This Is It - At the start of this, it reminds me of the soundtrack to the movie Sunshine....which sold me at the first 5 seconds. It's like the song that would be played if a guy is rushing to an airport to tell a girl how he really feels and that he doesn't want her to go. Sweet song.
Well Someday Change - I keep skipping this track. I mean it's a good song, but I don't really feel like slitting my wrists today.
Find Our Way - This song is good. Great guitar. But what I've noticed in this album, for the most part, is the only time it gets some what hard is during the solos. There is no hard verse or chorus where Raine is going ape shit.
Rabbits - One of the mos hauntingly beautiful songs OLP has ever written. It has a touch of Aqualung with it. The guitar just rips my heart out and takes the air out of me every single time. Maybe a tiny bit of Incubus feeling in the guitar if that guy could just chill a moment.
Mettle - It's kind of just there, and the lyrics are awkward, "Sharpened instruments, failed experiments..."

This is a great album, but it lacks tracks you can jam to. I could only listen to 3 tracks while driving to jam out to. This would be decribed as a...I dunno...cramming for finals album?

8/10 solid.

I would also LOVE a PM for the streamed songs. (Wow, feels like so long since I have posted). I almost died when I realized how much later the American release is compared to the Canadian release. But of course with OLP being my all time favorite band it's a must buy!

Anyways, if someone will PM me, I'll be eternally grateful.
Every line I've crossed has come undone, everything I know is somehow wrong.

I'd also like to put in a shameless request for a PM with the link to the rip of the album. (I know I know, I'm one of those fans who have just come out of the woodwork now things are happening. I really need to post more.)

This is the first time I may have ever said this, but...

On this tour, I actually look forward more to the new material than to the old classics. Not to say Naveed and Superman's Dead aren't awesome...

But honestly, I'd rather have a show made up of 7-8 songs from this album and 7-8 rarities, plus a few hits scattered it.

Also, if you guys get the album, let's keep it tight. No youtubing this shit, etc. I'm sure someone else around the net will do it, but let's not be the ones to do it. And trusty already said they'd snipe that shit down like that.

AFAYC caught me off guard by alot. very indie pop feel. love it.

you need to let go of olp's past to fully experience this record with an open mind. This shit's crazy.

i've been listening to the whole album outright without skipping anything, and i highly recommend it. i am starting to enjoy songs like "mettle" and "will someday change" a lot more this way, as part of the album as a whole. and boy "fire in the henhouse" is really growing me. this album is very much a unit as SM was.

as for all the "if this is it" love, i prefer "find our way" for a rocker.

i think it'd be cool if they did one classic and two rares from each 1994-2001 album, then all of curve. as follows:

3 from naveed (naveed, is it safe, under zenith)
3 from clumsy (clumsy, carnival, car crash)
3 from happiness (is anybody home, blister, stealing babies)
3 from SM (in repair, all my friends, if you believe)

that's 12 songs, then 10 from curve.

22 songs... asking a lot, but would be epic. :D
