Wow. I would say that they are very different. I LOVE Naveed so this is a tough one. I would say Curve is just as good in a totally different way. They're two completely different albums. That harder, more aggressive guitar sound and vocal style are gone. It's a new Our Lady Peace.

Yes. Definitely some falsetto. Raine's voice is great on Curve. I don't think anybody will be disappointed.

It' not surprising to me that Curve will be a natural evolution from BB. Aside from the dramatic change from Bob Rock's influence, you can hear an evolution from each OLP album to the next.
Hey, if you could give us a heads up about future interviews, that would be really awesome. And did you mention something about video from the interview being available soon?
Also, one last question, more of a suggestion really, how do you feel about the fine people here at CM coming up with a question for you to ask Raine when you talk to him again? I think that would be very cool, and the folks here would appreciate that :)

Nothing is guaranteed, but I sure will. I didn't know this board existed until after the fact. There actually was a at least one person from the board who got into our chat room and we asked their question. I would absolutely ask your questions. Fans don't get enough chances with their favorite artists. Video IS coming, I promise. It's been a busy week for homework with the three kids at home. We've actually spent that last 2 nights in the... wait for it... Library!

I was listening live and had my question answered so thanks for that. It was refreshing to hear more than just the standard generic ten questions asked and answered. The long form interview allowed for a lot of different subjects to be addressed.

Matt, being one of the few people outside the band that has heard the record in it's entirety, you're probably likely to get many many questions. Most people around here consider this a bit of a "make or break" album for the band. I guess my point is, please be patient with us, because as I'm sure you've been able to figure out by this forum, we can be pretty rabid for information. :) My only question is regarding the length of the album/songs. We've noticed that Rabbits is longer than the typical OLP song (more than 5mins), would you say this is true of the rest of the songs, and the album in general?
Thanks for satisfying our hunger :)

It's all good. I was extremely fortunate to get the music early and have no problem with the questions. I'm just as excited as everybody else. I would disagree with the "make or break" comment. Like Raine said in our conversation, the OLP arc is still going up. I think if people take Curve and just listen to it as 10 songs by a band that is evolving, they'll be happy and agree that these are great songs. Also, I would say artists need to make themselves happy first and fans second.

As for the length of the songs, Rabbits is the longest. Half are over 3 and under 4. The other half are over 4 and under 5 (w/the exception of Rabbits).

So roughly 40 minutes, give or take.

Any random noise falsetto, or just singing falsetto, if that makes sense?

The only reason that I say make or break, is because many fans were turned off by Burn Burn, and Curve could determine whether they come back or not. I feel the same as you though, that it's just OLP following their natural arc, progression, evolution, whatever you wanna call it. I personally have loved every record they've put out (for different reasons) and I'm sure I'll enjoy Curve too.

Correct on the time. If I understand correctly, I would say "singing falsetto." Especially on Will Someday Change. Really nice.

I think it's likely as well. Tales was a song that I thought they spent a lot of time working on, and will someday change is a song that we don't really know much about, so that' s a pretty good guess.

Tack on the fact that there is a lyric in Tales that has the word 'change' in it: You check out and you both have change

Not sure that's it... "and all that you say, all that you know... someday... change."

I think the Grocery List lyrics we heard were kind of sketchy and probably not finished. It could be the same song, not sure. Looking at the list in the background on ourladypeace.com lately (see attachment) it seems possible.

OLP ?

1. FTGF? - ?
2. Weightless - ?
3. Window Seat - redo gtr ?
4. If This Is It - rethink ?
5. Rabbit - needs edge
6. The Wolf -
7. Find Our Way - gtrs
8. Grocery List - drums/bass
9. As Fast As You Can

This list is probably from around October/November. Can't quite tell if the first one is FTGF (Fight the Good Fight) but everything else aside from that and Grocery List is on the album. Maybe they had these 8 songs, then they wrote Allowance, and had their 9 songs for the album. Reworked a couple (The Wolf and Grocery List), and added in Mettle. Perhaps.

Maybe Matt could confirm if they're the same -- this is the song we know as Tales from a Grocery List: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtUB2kpicDw
