Oh shit, you played him Is It Safe! That's one they've actually never performed live.

Kinda disappointed about his comment on the lack of bonus tracks for Curve though. We know of at least 6 songs that didn't make it.

That was one of the best moments. I'll try and post the video later tonight. Raine sat there for at least a minute with the headphones on listening to that song. He took them off and commented on how he hasn't heard Is It Safe in a really long time. The reaction was great.

and he hasn't sang it or played it since they recorded it. I asked Duncan years ago( 2000) if they ever played that song live. He said not as long as I have been in the band. SO there you go. That is one of my favorites off Naveed

the story about Roth's microphone. OMG .> First off I saw VH with Dave way back in the day.. I also saw him solo. He came out in the audience riding it. It was about 10ft long. This was 1985..

For those of you that didn't hear the Raine interview last week, the podcast is up here, although it's a bit tough to find.

http://www.errorfm.com/Rockzilla Click on the "Podcasts" tab, page down to "Pod Zeppelin" and click the little blue "Podcast" button listed next to Pod Zeppelin to pull down the menu. You'll see his name under "Pod Zeppelin 82."

PM me if anyone has any trouble finding it. Enjoy :duncan:

Excellent, excellent interview, thank you so much! It's rare to hear Raine sound so at ease with the media, it was very enjoyable. Also, I love when a member of the band gets interviewed by an OLP fan who also manages to remain professional. You clearly knew the right questions to ask :)

Thanks, Ken. That means a lot. We'll have him back soon for round 2 when the album comes out. Which I was EXTREMELY lucky to have heard, thanks to Raine. I would say, if you're a fan of Burn, Burn, you'll love Curve.

well actually, most of us aren't the biggest fans of burn burn... its my last favourite album actually.... so you're saying that musically its overall similar to burn burn? what about spiritual machines, do you see many similarities? how are rained vocals overall?

You might have opened up a can of worms with that comment

Definitely one of the best interviews I have heard over the years. Well done, Matt. Maybe you could get them to do an in-studio acoustic set next time around? Just sayin... :P

Also, if you want some real laughs, book Jeremy for an interview... haha

Really? I get a anti burn burn feeling about this album. Is it like burn burn?

Let me ask you all this: What do you think of the audio samples they've released?

I think when I equate it to Burn, Burn it's because it's nothing like Naveed or Gravity or Clumsy. That's the closest I can get. There's a lot of guitar, but it's not hard, crunchy guitar like Naveed.

I think folks were just reading the comment without the proper context.

From the clips so far, I can definitely see how the album as a whole could end up sounding like a natural progression from Burn Burn (without just being Burn Burn part 2). IMO, this is a good thing.

I love the clips, because they're interesting. in my opinion, more interesting than anything in years.

I completely respect your opinion of liking burn burn. it's not bad at all, just not my personal favorite.

To me, BB is good for what it is, a pop rock record. nothing wrong with "pop rock", or anything...its kind of like what incubus recently did. You had this band with layers of sound and emotion for years, and the new record (for OLP, Burn Burn) just kind of simplified it all. It feels like Curve's showing a very, very creative side of OLP, something we haven't seen fully in a while.

I was just saying that as a joke since Burn Burn wasn't as well received. Just messing around, man

I would totally agree with that. Well said. Not Burn Burn 2, but a progression from Burn Burn.

Allowance is great. Fire in the Hen House is great. Heavyweight is great. A song called As Fast As You Can is great (I do have to say it reminds me of U2...). If This Is It is a great sort of ballad. Rabbits is probably my least favorite song on Curve. Will Someday Change is great. I try not to throw out the word "great" recklessly, but most of the songs are definitely great.

we know from the show that you're a big fan of "is it safe" and "neon crossing", meaning you have excellent taste in olp music. how then would you compare these "great" curve songs to those? just as good? almost? better? far inferior?
