The internet is mocking me. I should be doing my poetry assignment, but instead I'm downloading last night's episode of House. The random security word to download? Iambic.

So, while watching the Hour the other day, as I do almost every single night, I found out that my beloved George Stroumboulopoulos is thirty-seven years old. I can't say I saw that coming.

Why do I actually know that word?

Isn't there something like Iambic rhythm?

Or is this just a random word that sounds like a word that belongs in poetry?

Iambic pentameter - it's a metre Shakespeare wrote in a lot.

I was 15, and as said, I couldn't get into the bar to see them. I did have some 18 year old friends who saw them but the Clumsy tour really cemented me as a OLP fan. According to an interview Jeremy has said they played this venue April 7, 1994...his birthday. So he was barely old enough to be there as well.

And while I am feeling old...Shanae, do you remember George on Much Music at all? Now I have to go look up exactly what year he started there!

i like shakespeare. hamlet was my particular favourite in high school.

i remember george on much. and rainbow, and rick, and amanda. back when much was actually good.

I miss the old Much too!

I like Shakespeare...but I think it was easier to appreciate when my elderly English teacher from London weren't teaching it to me.

Oh, and to answer my own question, I think George started on Much in 1999 and left 5 years later.

It probably replaced some much more important fact in my head like what pitcher did Kirk Gibson hit his world series grand slam winner off of in 1988?

Shakespeare is funny. When you can get past the insanely difficult to read language is incredibly entertaining.

^ D'you ever go to the Shakespeare by the sea festival here?
This year they did R&J with a Newfoundland spin, and the nurse had a KILLER bay accent. Even when it was tragic it was so hard not to laugh.

Haha no, I've never gone actually. I'm not really big on local theater to be honest.
Actually... last year I was doing a seminar and one of the requirements was that we go see a drama in town and review it. Annnnnd of course, I waited until the last possible second to go see one. It was a bit of a mess. hahaha. Its nothing against the plays, its just not my scene.

My teacher explained to us that, "Reading Shakespeare is like talking to a Newfie -- hard to understand at first, but you get used to it." I remember my sister talking about Shakespeare, and I sure got a kick out of the insults in his works!

I think we're doing Romeo and Juliet.

I don't really remember George, no, but I have seen old interviews. My family isn't a music family, so Much was never on at my house until I started getting into music, around 2004/2005. The only real George interview from Much that I remember is a Billy Talent interview from the first time they were on MOD (it's on the band's DVD). Him and Ben Kowalewicz used to work together.

it was a good drama though. i, erm, don't remember what it was called, but i remember the story almost perfectly
