Vancouver Giveaway

Post by xjsb125 »

Up for grabs is 3 passes to an acoustic performance with OLP this Saturday in Vancouver. These are 3 individual passes only, not +1 like the others. This will be recorded for a radio special, and will have an audience of about 40 people. Passes are non-transferable and ID must be shown to gain entry. No trivia this time, the first 3 people to email me (mwidner18@hotmail.com, Subject: Vancouver Giveaway) will receive the passes. Please include your name as it appears on your ID, and your location. Enter only if you can attend. Good luck!

That's pretty awesome. I can't go, but it's still pretty awesome. Looking forward to having some new songs done acoustic on the Hub!

yeah, so this show was AWESOME. thank you soooooo much, Matt!

i didn't realize until the last second that it's really one of those Uninvited Guest shows that CFOX pulls out every so often, which was pretty cool. all 30-something of us were so pumped to be up close and personal with the band. i'm still smiling!

after everybody was stuffed into a dark room, not much larger than my bedroom, with black cloth draped over the walls (i heard a lot of "are the gonna kill us here, or something?"), a couple guys from the FOX quickly explained the whole Uninvited Guest thing, brought out the interviewer (can't remember his name for the life of me, but he was pretty cool), and... *fanfare*... brings out the band!

the whole thing took maybe 45 minutes.

Interview - Performance (All You Did Was Save My Life) - Interview - Performance (Innocent) - Interview - Performance (Clumsy) - Interview - Performance (The End Is Where We Begin) - and maybe one last question.

i honestly don't remember too much about the interview, but the guys were pretty cool and casual. the interviewer, i remember thinking, really knew his stuff, he seemed to be a huge fan of the band and had been for a while (nothing like Matte from the I&I, :P). it seemed more like a conversation between friends, rather than an interview for a radio station, which was totally awesome. sorry that i can't tell you too much about it.

the performances were amazing, to say the least. steve and raine on acoustic guitars, jeremy sitting on a drumbox with a tambourine at his foot, and duncan on his really awesome looking bass. vocals, to me, at least, sounded perfect (well, they should, since the whole thing was at a School of Recording Arts), instruments sounded great, the room's acoustics overall were great for a radio recording.

I was surprised to hear them play Innocent and Clumsy, of all singles, but was pleased, nonetheless. i know it sounds stupid to say this, but they all seemed just so... comfortable? like they were born to play together their entire lives. it was really, really nice to see. i can't think of another way to put it.

and just like that, it was over.

smiling, they quickly shook some hands, signed autographs, took photos with the fans, and they ran out of the room as quickly as they came. pure sweethearts all around.

for the lack of a better vocabulary, it was awesome.

thank you so much, matt, i can't tell you how much i really appreciated it. thank you, thank you, thank you!

ps. photos to come soon. they all kinda turned out like crap, though, even though i was front row, in front of duncan. shaky hands?

pps. to the other Matt, i knew you looked damn familiar, but i couldn't place you! i totally would've said something, but i'm a shy dork. it didn't hit me you were a CMer and that I had met you before, until i was on the bus back home. i'm sorry!

ppps, this thing is supposed to air tonight, at 8pm. i'm gonna be out, hopefully someone could catch it, at the last moment?

Videos for this are on Youtube and you can link to them from R&S site. I was in the 3rd row, wearing a green shirt and just out of view from the camera.
Sonya - we kind of glanced at each other and I swore I met you before, but wasn't too sure...lol..I'm just as much of a dork!

The part of the interview I liked was when Raine mentioned Pearl Jam, and how they have managed to stick around so long while doing it on their own for the most part and how the band kind of looks up to that!
