I think (as Sarah pointed out to me) there are too many characters getting equal focus right now. They need to pull back the reins a bit. I think that if they start focusing on a few characters each episode, rather than giving them all equal attention, they'll be better off. There was much better character development in the first two seasons.
Having said that, I think they did a spectacular job with Jim's storyline in this episode. Spoiler: I was ready to kill him when he turned down Pam's amazing gift at the start of the episode, claiming that with his new title he shouldn't be playing pranks on Dwight any more. And then he started playing small games with Dwight, and realized that he'd made a dumb move. Also, I LOVE LOVE LOVE his little moment of realization when he's talking to Michael, about how the Asian waitress was just a rebound, and how when the rebound is gone you realize that you're still thinking about the one you love, the one who broke your heart. I think Jim's on the verge of realizing that Karen's kind of his own rebound, because he's still thinking about Pam. Which lead to, of course, Jim totally redeeming himself with the amazing end of the episode where he accepted and even improved on her gift! "Maybe they'll send a helicopter" hahaha.
Actually, the whole episode was pretty great. I was actually laughing out loud quite a lot, which is something that doesn't happen often when I'm watching something alone...
I thought it was really good too. I think it should be an hour all the time. But I don't like so much focus on the other characters either. If they're gonna do that, then they should give the charachters some depth. Spending so much on Angela but never shedding any light other than that she has a soft spot for Dwirght is boring.
I don't know... I mean, I enjoyed a lot of Angela's exchanges with the other characters, and there were a couple of tender moments between her and Dwight which, while we already knew they had a relationship, seemed to show that their relationship is more than just *shudder* sexual. But I do agree that a lot of the focus on her was rather boring. If they'd trimmed it down to just the battle between the Party Planning Committee and the Committee for Planning Parties, and one or two moments with Dwight, I think they would have been better off.
That said, I think the episode was just spectacularly carried out. With an hour-long episode, they were able to let some of those scenes and storylines draw out a bit without taking away from the plot and flow.
bros before hos. why? because your bros are always there for you. they have got your back after your ho has ripped your heart out for no reason, and you were nothing but great to your ho and you told her that she was the only ho for you and that she was better than all the other hos in the world and then... then suddenly she's not your ho no mo'.
HAHAHAH yeah.
I loved Angela in this show. She is such a good character to give a one line shut down, and normally thats enough. I really liked seeing her as more developed and that. it was soooo good.
ONE HOUR EVERY NIGHT!!! WOOO
