The sound on my Windows Media Player doesn't work. I've uninstalled it and downloaded it about 3 or 4 times. It says it's playing the song, or it shows the video, and there's just no sound at all.

And more sound problems on another computer. There isn't any. At all. The speakers work... but there's no sound.

Anyone have any ideas?

Whaaa

When I go into the sounds part of the control panel all there is is a list of sounds. Nothing about volume. I'm so lost and technologically ignorant :(

Are there different menus at the top that you can choose?

Try looking on your start bar. I've never seen a computer that didn't have a volume button on the start bar.

Also, is it possible you have the speakers plugged in wrong? I've done that a bunch of times, because the chord fits perfectly into places you're not supposed to put it.

When I go into sounds the only menu option IS sounds

I'm pretty sure the volume of the toolbar is up. But I'll double check.

And I'll definitely check if the speakers are plugged in right.

Thanks for the suggestions

Ok, I downloaded a copy of Chrono Cross to play on my PSX emulator (please no piracy lectures: I can't find this game anywhere in my town) and it works fine. Then I realized I had a savegame on my PSX memory card. So now I want to burn it to play on my chipped PSX.

It came as a .img (719,000 kb), a .ccd (1kb) and a .sub (27,000kb).

How do I burn it so it will run on my PSX?

Get an '802.11G' Wireless Router from your local electronics store.
Best Buy, Circuit City etc.

Netgear seems to be the most user friendly.
D-Link has good quality stuff but Belkin is usually a bit cheaper.

You get what you pay for.

If you have a notebook with a 'Centrino' sticker on it you shoudl be all set.
Otherwise you need to get a wireless adapter. You can get USB Wireless adapter you can use in both Notebooks and Desktops.

This would work.

You hook it up with a cable from your cable/dsl modem to the wireless router

Okay so I want to stab my eyes.

I have a wireless router. Its connected to everything and its all set up. The settings are done and everything to the point where I was using the internet already this morning on both my home computer and laptop.

Now for no reason the router (maybe??) is dropping the signal. I can't connect on either computer. On the laptop I can detect the signal and connect but once connect I can't access the internet or anything like that. I was talking to tech support with my internet provider earlier when this happened and they told me to basically unplug the modem and router and then shut down and restart the computer. So I did that and I started it back up and everything worked for me again.
Now its dropped the signal... again.
And I can't get on the web. And I did that whole restarting deal again, even though that doesn't seem like much of a solution to me, and I still can't access the internet.

Right now I am leeching off my neighbors wireless.
The tech support with my internet providor wont help me because they are a bunch idiots and claim its a problem with the router. And the router company has '24 hour support"....I'm just supposed to stay on the phone for and hour and 24 minutes.

Seriously, that was the estimated time I would be waiting.

Anyone with any advice? :(

I would say something was causing interference but if that was the case you would be able to leech off your neighbors.

I guess make sure your own router isn't sitting on top of your microwave or anything of that sort. Unfortunatlye all my experience liesin troubleshooting the hard wired stuff. Wireless works by way of voodoo magic for all I know, it either works or it doesn't when I've worked with it.

Great what kind of magic fixed it?
Voodoo? Witchcraft? Or more like Magicians magic?

Ok so here's a problem Ive had for some time but it's beggining to get really irriatiting.

For some reason my display is too dark, nothing really serious that you notice it right away, but when you view pictures or video's sometimes the brightness level is to low to properly see eveyrthing. If i'm just watching a video on Windows Media Player i can ussually just turn up the brightness in my video settings, but anything online (such as Youtube) does not allow this. I've tried changing the settings on the monitor, but it's already at maximum brightness, as far as i can manually do. Anyways to get into the computer settings and change it that way?
