I wonder how much it'll affect the initial storylines next season. :uhh:

I'm so glad that people on this board know the difference between affect and effect. :love:

affect and effect ... when people get that wrong I want to get out my red pen and correct it! (I was a uni TA a few years ago... loved my red pen :love:)

AND... the other day someone at work with a high-paying job and a Masters degree typed this:

"As for the question of how much we should divulge... I would be comfortable if you explain are process to them"

are instead of our?!?! :evil:

I flatter myself that I am ok at grammar, but I still don't know the difference between affect and effect...

they're interchangable. in my world.
Whenever death may surprise us,
let it be welcome
if our battle cry has reached even one receptive ear
and another hand reaches out to take up our arms.

Nobody's gonna miss me, no tears will fall, no ones gonna weap, when i hit that road.
my boots are broken my brain is sore, fer keepin' up with thier little world, i got a heavy load.
gonna leave 'em all just like before, i'm big city bound, your always 17 in your hometown

Effect can also be a verb. When used that way it means to give rise to something, to give birth to something, etc. Like you can say "the law will effect changes" meaning the law will cause changes to happen. I suck at giving definitions but yes, it does work that way too.

The news mistakenly uses "elude" instead of "evade" all the time and it drives me up the wall.

ooh i hate grammatical errors

some girl for her journalism report, she wrote "seniors addition"
what she meant was "seniors edition"

and she couldn't spell "huge". my girlfriend spelled it out for her and she said "no, that's hug"

HAHAHAHAHAHA

yes, they did let her graduate. i can't believe it either.

Affect can also be an expression. Like a facial expression, or somesuch.

Also, the easiest way I've found to remember the most common usages is as follows:

Affect = Action
Effect = End result
