New Question:

So I downloaded a video and only after downloading it did I find that it is in m4v format. I can't play it in WMP, RealPlayer, Quicktime, etc... After some google searches, it looks like m4v is the type of file that you put on a video iPod, but I don't have a video iPod. Does anyone know if I can download a free (or shareware) program that will either play this file or else convert it tro something I can play with a standard program? Google came up with a few things that looked good, but when I downloaded them, they were different programs than what they said they were. Download.com seemed to have nothing. Thanks for any help you could provide!

But Brutus is an honorable man...

Depends on how deep the scratches are. If they're shallow you can try using a disc resurfacer (I think the one I have is called a Disc Doctor or something) which is basically a contraption where you spray water on the disc and then run this wheel over it.. or.. something. It seems to work for the CDs that I've used it on.

i have a question

you know how when you hover your mouse over the time on your computer, it gives you stats about the day and such? right now when i hover my mouse over the time, it only gives me the date, as "May 3, 2006" for today. how do you change that so that it gives you the day as well, such as "Wednesday, May 3, 2006"?

Is there a way to reformat windows without having the Windows XP CD?

The guy who set up my computer wouldn't give me a copy of the Windows CD he used.

I'm buying a new computer, and probably selling this one to a friend of the family. So I want to format the hard-drives and get everything cleaned up so they can start fresh, free from all the crappy programs half-uninstalled, in regular Window's fashion.

I asked the geek where I'm buying my computer if there was a way to do it, and he said I could just go to bootdisk.com, follow the instructions, and away I go. But the Windows XP bootdisk setup just links to Microsoft's bootdisk website, which specifically says that I'll need the XP CD-ROM to finish setting it up.

Does anyone know any more about this?

If worse comes to worse I'll just have my old computer guy reformat it for me. But I'd rather do it myself without paying for his "service" (ie, the use of his disk).

Though I'm still curious about this, I've realized that I can just use the XP CD that will come with my new computer.

Depends on what the game comes as. If it's .bin and .cue files, or and ISO, you'll need something like Daemon Tools to set up a fake CD drive and run them.

I can give you more help if you let me know the game and what format.
