Well call me a jackass, even though i have actually ordered and paid for a signed copy with my hard-earned cash. Sorry if I don't feel like waiting 6 to 8 weeks just to listen to the album when it is already available. I even had the chance to listen to it weeks ago but I still didn't cave. Why don't you go and start a fight with most of the people on the other thread actually reviewing the songs, because they already have downloaded the album?

Very true. I say go for it, if you've already bought a copy. Like my Jack's Mannequin cd didn't come today, even though it was supposed to, so my friend's burning me a copy for me to listen to until my cd comes in the mail. I don't think there's anything wrong with downloading it if you've bought one anyway...

Who care if people are gonna download it. I don't know if many of you know, but royalities are ridiculously hard for artists to obtain. They have to hire lawyers to hunt down record companies just to get paid for the sale of CDs. It's the company executives that make the huge money.

It doesn't, I just think people should shut up about other people downloading or not.

Except that if everybody downloads, then the record company sees, "Hey, OLP isn't doing very well in sales!"
And that would go someplace good, I'm sure. I realize a few people downloading won't cause this, but there's a good reason to not want people just downloading the album

Oh cause obvisouly it's a slippery slope. Well, the arguement "oh, if everybody..." If everybody flushed the toilet at once then the city's tanks would go dry. I'm not condoning downloading, I'm just saying it's not that huge a deal and people should stop worrying about it. Like come on, is it really that huge a deal? I'm a huge HUGE music fan and I BUY the music and artists I respect. But really, is downloading a national crisis?

Well if people only downloaded stuff for free and never bougth anythign it is a big deal.. Ican see both sides.. Both alot of people who download never buy anything. Yet say they are fans. I am not talking about you CM'ers on here .. I once read an article on these KORN fans. one person said they were their biggest fan. When the reporter asked how much you think you paid out for being a fan. They said nothign. I download all their cd's. It is people like that , that I have aproblem with. You want to download asong or two fine, but to do whole cd's and not want to apy at all is a big deal.. People make music for profits. I have no problem paying for music. yes my friend made me some cd's of songs I like, but a good 90% were songs I all ready had either on vinyl or cd.
You say you buy music of aritst you repect. How would you feel if they lost money cause people who didn;t like them downloaded their music for free.
Just trying to make the point here I think people on here are making.. Not trying to pick a fight or arugment..

Downloading is fine if you're just previewing the album and intend to buy it if you like it. That's what I do, and I can thank downloading music for getting me into all the bands I like. OLP, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Matt Good.. I downloaded all their stuff first before buying.
I agree that downloading is a problem if you're not buying afterwards.

I totally understand that point too and I too am not trying to pick a fight, but I just think the whole music industry has blown the downloading trend out of proportion.
I'm actually VERY impressed by the dedication and love of music that is shown by OLP fans and especially those in the hub and CM. But first, I don't (hate) when people say: "oh but if everybody" I just gets on my nerves a lot. But the music industry is an industry. Artists make a HUGE amount of their revenue from touring and putting on shows. I believe artists make more money touring than CD sales. Again, I'm not codoning downloading, but it's really the venues that generates their revenues.
They lose a very very small amount of money in the non-sale of CDs. They are more worried about the numbers because it is the numbers that dictates whether or not they will be re-signed.

I don't think you know what "condoning" means...
Condoning - To overlook, forgive, or disregard (an offense) without protest or censure. See Synonyms at forgive.

So, you can use an online dictionary! Congrats!
My point is that by saying that it's okay (ie. not a big deal), you are condoning it.
