With these new clips, I find myself looking for small things to try to like them, like the guitar slide at the start of Will The Future Blame Us, and the squeal at the end of WTSOYF. However, with the old songs, I remember them all being instantly likable. It was after persistent listening that I began noticing the small things, which in turn made me love the songs.
Personally, I think it's more about the little things that you're describing. As much as we had the One Man Army's and Is Anybody Home's as examples of amazing lyrics, there were a lot of songs with simpler lyrics than we find here. I don't think it's the lyrics that have beccome too simple, I think it's guitars and drums. Sure there is some good guitar stuff because Steve's a great guitarist, but it's no different than what we could hear from any band. Jer on the other hand has been reduced to a drum machine, just there to keep the beat.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.
"It's a great thing when you realize you still have the ability to surprise yourself. Makes you wonder what else you can do that you've forgotten about"
I don't think you'll start anything. I think that everyone here will agree with you in saying that this stuff isn't nearly as amazing as OMA, IAH or Hello Oskar or that the band isn't living up to their true potential. I still enjoy the music, I just try to think of them as a different band.

i actually like the newer stuff and can;t wait to hear the full songs..
I see the progression from Gravity.. I know lots of people will say the earlier stuff was better. I won't agree or disagree. It was different. Yes Raine wrote some amazing lyrics then. I still think he is writing some amazing lyrics.
here is my opinion on the songs.
I relly like don't stop. I say that is the 3 songs for a concept. If you look at MOY( where he calls himself an asshole) then go to BBTS( where he is apologizing) to DOn't Stop( where he is saying You are teh best and nobody compares to you) I know that is weird, but I just see a sort of story going on there..
I love the future song( sound slike U2) and Best days( sounds like Slow Hands-Interpol-the opening guitar)
world on a string is very upbeat poppy to me.. Like Innocent was, but I can't help but think of Madonna's song True Blue or Motley Crues' Don"t Go Away Madf
Picture is okay as is ANgles Losing Sleep... I still ike Wipe although us eto the live version.. I will say this though, I like these osngs a hell of lot better then the other songs we heard live throughout the years..
I also wonder what will become of No Warning...
I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again Teach the young people how to think, not what to think-Sidney Sugarman
I can't listen to Don't Stop without thinking of two things.
1- Don't Start. Hey, it came out first!
2- It sounds like a song someone would write after discovering oral sex.
Though from a musical standpoint its a good song.
-Sarah Goodbye you liar, Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything Then you think you will inspire Take apart your head (and I wish I could inspire) Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

I'm curious, is there anyone who hated Gravity but really likes these new clips? It's obvious that these songs are better than most of Gravity but I'm wondering if anyone thinks that there is a major improvement here.
in my opinion its not a major major improvement from gravity but from what i hear on "picture" and "angels" i think there has been a bit of an improvement. still, i need to hear the entire album to fully decide.
