It's really easy to take some of their best old lyrics and compare them to new ones you don't like... that's not proving anything, it's contorting facts to make them agree with your argument.

These clips are not nearly all of the songs, there could be AMAZING lyrics on this album that nobody's heard yet.

no i'm not contorting anything- yes i picked some of their best lyrics and compared them to the new shitty ones . . .my point is . . .old OLP had plenty of not shitty lyrics mixed in with some simpler ones- new OLP really doesn't have any- last time i checked regardless of any comparison, some not shitty lyrics are better than none- on another note i just heard the angels song . . .thats pretty darn good :)

You're ignoring the part of my post where I pointed out that these are NOT the full songs, and also that there will be more songs than these on the album.

Ya comparing two of the most lyrically complex OLP songs to this album isn't fair. My argument isn't that these lyrics on this album aren't deep. It's that songs on past albums haven't been as complex as we all think.

Yeah, and some of the songs are edited kinda poorly for the clip it just jumps from one part to another. I think that they just really wanted the intro, chorus and end of a song. You can't really judge the lyrics or even the song itself by that.

yeah!! i FINALLY heard some of em on promosquad!! they really surprised me. One of them, DID sound like a good charlotte song. similar lyrics and everything. i think it was best day of your life or something.

wipe that smile gives me shivers, yes, but it doesn't compare to the live version. i don't like the layering of his voice, or whatever the synthesizer-like thing is. i don't know. but i still LOVE it.

i accidentally skipped past Don't Stop, and i haven't found it since... oh well.
I like these, even though i don't think they're up to par with OLPs old stuff, they are awesome when they stand on their own.

but did anyone notice somewhere out there is played a couple octaves lower wen they play it live??

I know this was said a page ago but I had to comment.
A couple of octaves lower? Who do you think it is we're talking about here? We all know that Raine's range isn't bad, but it's not that good.

Couple of steps lower, possibly.

I also love the guitar on Don't Stop. For once a song where simple anthemic lyrics are accompanied by guitar playing that's slightly more complicated.

I've waited for a long 3 years to see what Steve can do.

I approve.

Triple post action.

I just noticed that at the very end of the fade-out at the end of the Wipe... clip, Raine goes into a falsetto squeal. Like, a really really good falsetto squeal. :)

That'll just make the album version that much better.

It seems to me like, with Gravity, they basically said "screw it" to everything they had learned with thier years of songwriting, and just went with whatever Rock suggested (to get back to the roots of writing, etc...), but with this album, they're bringing more of thier own writing experience into the mix, and adding to Rock's pop-rock sound.

that's an improvement
it's just that i'll never really be able to dig that pop-rock sound. not as much as their other stuff, anyway.

damnfuck i need to hear the falsetto
wipe was the only one i havent heard yet

anyway i just read like from pages 10-13 and i have to agree that these lyrics are more dumbed down than the lyrics in the past. I put lyrics just as important (or more important) than the music, and thats like my #1 why I love OLP. but these new lyrics... they are all MEH.

and as someone has already said, i DO NOT understand why Raine would write crap lyrics (compared to old ones) when it is SO OBVIOUS to any human being that they are much much inferior than the old ones. I still have faith in raine to write good lyrics because it can't just leave a person all of a sudden but.. where did they go???

the lyrics for Best Day and some others, sung by a whiny voice, could easily pass as an everyday poprock song

on the other hand, I like Angels and Will the Future Blame Us and Picture, but I still want better lyrics.

END OF RANT.

that's true...but remember, we haven't heard the whole song yet!

and a lot of the time the best lyrics are concealed somewhere else besides the intro, the chorus, and the end.

so i've still got my fingers crossed :)

Because Lanni helped him write the old lyrics, not Rock?
