So did I. But my last post is based on the fact that someone said an album=a record.

I need to buy more CD's.

Yeah, I was gonna comment on the album thing earlier. "Album" isn't synonymous with vinyl, people. :lol:

I've never purchased a vinyl for more than $15 that is of a new release. Or even an old release. The only time I've ever seen a vinyl for $50 was like an original pressing of George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" still sealed, and a Leadbelly album from the 1930s.[/quote]

Yeah, I'll be buying Guided By Voice's "Bee Thousand" 3xLP when it comes out, and I'll probably drop $20 on it.

If you import your wax, you're going to pay more, but if you're going to a store to buy, say, like a White Stripes 12", you shouldn't pay more than $14, and if you did, you totally ripped yourself off.

The record repair guys stole my record player. About a year before I found out my parents have a bunch of old Beatles albums, too, that I want to listen to.

I didn't know you could buy new records at cd stores. The last time I saw a record for sale was in Value Village. Actually, the only person I know that isn't an adult that owns a record, is my friend who's Grandfather gave her Michael Jackson's Off The Wall (which she put on the wall because she doesn't have anything to play it with)

but then again, they are not a mainstream CD store.

Well... anyone who lives around here can go to South Street in Philly, and just about every music store there (and there's a lot) has records... plus a few stores specialize in only records. :thumbs:

I find the last few post funny. I wrote a comment to AXTECH along the lines of who releases albums anymore. I wrote it in a joking manner cause there was way too much arguing going on. To me an album meant 12 inch record.( ask your parents) As some of you have pointed out, album now means any kind of recording.(see definition) YOu also brought out that some artist today are indeed releasing albums(vinly)

I am from the old school . We bought everything on vinly. CD's weren't introduced until 1983(USA) They didn't start taking off till the late 80's (when everything was released on CD). I remeber it was expensive to get a cd player. I think they cost about $600. Now you can get a cd player for under $25.00.

MY friend and I had this conversation the other night. How when we were between the ages of 12-17 there was no such thing asVCR's (beta max only) Tivo(if you wanted to see a show, you had to watch it when it aired). Internet, PC's , Email, PM's. You wanted to talk to someone you had to call or write. It is sort of funny how in the last 10-15 years the things that have become available due to technology. :spam:

You paid $30.00 for an album. Wow, that is alot. I use to pay $.50-$1.00 for a single(45) and a little more for an import. I use to buy alot of 45's imported from England or Japan. Albums were only $3.99-$5.99 when released. I probably make a killing on ebay if I ever sold my record albums. Too bad my cat used the edges of some as a scratching post :evil:

. The artwork was awesome. That was one of the arguments people had between vinly and cd's. I remember gatefolds and double albums. Oh memories. I can't remember the last time I played one of my albums. :think:

The housewares department manager at my last store gave me some original Hendrix vinyl as a going away present. Only two of them had their jackets though, but still, Hendrix = :drool:

Hehe, yeah, there is... it's not huuuuuuge, but it's kinda big-ish... you go outside Waterfront Station, and it's a bit off to your left, towards Gastown/Harbour Center, somewhere around there.

And there's another one on Georgia, too. Take the bus to "Vancouver" (Which I think is the 240, but I'm not good with bus numbers), and get off on the stop right before you get to VPL.

Hah, I just realized that I don't know where you are, so I could be totally putting you off. :lol:
