Well, see, when you make the title of the thread "olp cannot write lyrics", that tends to get peoples' backs up. Maybe you should go with something a little more subtle likes..."olp's lyrics don't quite match up to the book". Then my heart rater won't jump so. :lol:

I thought of that after I wrote the topic, but then I got really hungry and forgot.

A lot of it has to do with improvisation in the studio. As any vocalist is singing, the original lyrics might not match perfectly with the beat, so it's changed slightly. By the time it's finished in the studio, the packaging is already designed and ready to go.

Then there's stuff like on Gravity (with the booklet you mistakingly took as a perfect transcription) and Bring Back the Sun, where Raine messed up a line completely (Living by the hour), so they left it out of the booklet all together (my guess is Bring Back the Sun was an experiment done early in the recording process, live off the floor and all, so they altered their booklet plans).

I am glad you cleared that up cause I thought you were saying Raine writes horrible lyrics.

Who knows why those are different then what is being sung. Who knows if even the band gives them the lyrics to put in there.

What is even worse is when Raine changes the lyrics live( not messes up the lyrics but changes them) Not Enough- the whole What you need etc part is different live then on the CD, Naveed sometimes he says reaches for that soul(instead of phone), In if You Believe he says you try to buy your piece of mind, but nothing was there( instead of time to be scared-I can't remember the actual lyric right now). Also with that song it took me awhile to figure out why he would take a $1.00 from his pocket when this was sung.

Worse offender is JUNKIE and LIFE. the summersault lyrics are different then the CD versions. I onced asked Raine why were they different. He said I was only playing around with them at the SS shows.

I only look inside the book if I can't make out what he is singing, then those are the lyrics not printed.
