Our Lady Peace cannot write lyrics.
I'm sorry, but it's true and driving me nuts. The worst offender of this is "Happiness...". Spiritual Machines is pretty terrible too. Even if I ignore the large parts just omitted (see Automatic Flowers, track two, Clumsy), some things are just plain wrong. Do they make the lyrics before recording the song or something? It's ridiculous. Stealing Babies and Happiness & the Fish are just two examples that come to mind immediately as songs with terribly written lyrics. I am sure if I look through the booklet, especially while listening to the CD, I can find more. Also, in SM, Middle of Yesterday has a random, "...again" in it. Who the hell writes these? Now, Gravity was pretty good, lyric-wise, omitting almost nothing and getting nearly everything correct. I can excuse a couple messed up ands and buts. Naveed also has pretty good lyrics, especially earlier on. I hope the next album has lyrics written like those of Naveed and Gravity.

Is what you're getting at that what's sung in the songs isn't the same as the lyrics in the CD booklets? Cos if you are it's really not clear that that's what you mean.
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.
And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

No no, the lyrics are perfectly excellent. I just figured they wrote these things after it was recorded, and how it was recorded. I mean things like how in Stealing Babies, the parts in the first verse are switched, and stuff.
Teehee, I wouldn't have 145 posts at an OLP message board if I didn't at least like the lyrics
