showing off his overwhelming man-liness.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

I have always thought of that as like, theres a home you go to when you die that isn't on this earth.

Yeah, I've always thought of it as Raine's fancy way of saying "heaven".

Another question :) . I know that Raine tries to generalize the lyrics, but Im trying to understand exactly what he means in a couple parts, and Im lost on:

As the world explodes we fall out of it,
But we can't let go because this
Will not go away.

Does it mean that as something huge (like Mina's illness) happens, you get blown away, but you cant ignore it or give up because it wont go away? And after the second verse where it's changed to 'implode' and 'cant go on', does it mean that you cant continue on with your life as usual because its not going to go away?

If thats what you want it to mean it can be.

interpratations are fun.
To be honest, I'd rather leave some things as a mystery then know everything about a song. It leave something to the imagination.

but, of course, I know this is for an assignment so I shouldn't be so pickey.

We can't say what Raine really meant here, only he can. This is my take(only cause this effects me and a friend). In our case it was after the person was diagnoised with the illness, your whole world falls apart. Nothing you do will ever be the same, and the disease will not go away. YOu have to hold on to your faith, your family, your friends, each other to pull through. What ever will help you to deal with what is happening.

Not for nothing, but you really need to see what the song means to you. As I have said anyone who has had someone near/dear to them be diagnoised with a terminal illness or lost someone to terminal illness willl interpert this song different then someone who hasn't.

Raine has said alot of times that he doesn't really like talking about his lyrics mean because he wants people to take away from it-what it means to them. In your case try to put yourself in someone's shoes who is sick or takign care of a sick person, and how you would feel etc.

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

That's so true. Song completely changed meaning several times to me from before my dad's cancer (well, before the second time it hit... first time it seemed like he'd survive it so I never let myself worry that he might die), throughout the treatments, and after his death. It's such an unbelievably powerful song, regardless... but so much more powerful when you can equate it to someone you love... though, I'd definitely rather not be able to understand it so well.

That is what I meant. I know this song effects you also. What I ddin't know was your dad did die. I know he was sick. Sorry to hear that.<HUGS>. As you may or maynot know I have lost my dad and uncle(within a year time) to Cancer and my mom was terminally ill before she died. The other day I was listening to this song and I just started crying. This time of year is rough for me, too many unplesent memories.

I understand what you mean by not wanting to understand. You know I told Raine once or twice this song helped me cope.. He said that is why he is a songwriter and writes lyrics. How he gets alot out of people saying how his lyrics effect them.

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again
