In need of Theif info

Post by upgradable »

I have to do an English project on a song. Im going to do Theif, so I was wondering if you could tell me everything you know about the song (what its means, things like that). I do know quite a bit about it, but there's a lot I dont know. My jackoff of an teacher is only giving us until Monday to finish it. So if you have ANY info at all, it'd be a great help. Thanks! :D

I suppose you know the story about how the song was written about a young girl who died from a brain tumor. I am not too sure what exactally happened or anything but I do know that Raine was visiting her almost every day before she died and was really hit hard with it.
I guess thats why that song is so powerful.

I think the song at the end is a kids prayer or something like that....wasn't their another thread about this?

For most part the song Thief was written/inspired by this girl Mina Kim that Chantal and Raine met. She had cancer in the brain. The song is basically about her and how they felt. As the story goes Raine has said that he didn't know that Mina was aware she was sick because she lived her life to the fullest, instead of giving into the illness. I think she was only about 13 or so. Also listen to Chantal's song "M", it is about the same girl.

Personally( since this song effects me deeply) I think Thief is basically about loss. How one is rob of their life. You are helpless, but you make the most of the time they do have left. That is my take on it anyway. I have lost people very close to me to terminal illness, so this song does get to me at times, but it also comforts me.

If you want an actually break down then listen to the lyrics. It is pretty self explainatory. Mostl;y how people don't want to be labeled by the disease they have or died of. Exp:Cancer patient, AIDS patient etc,.How time seems to still go on after the person is gone. I also interpert the last line " I could be your, I'm here" as I can be what ever you need me to be, I am here for you.

BTW, the end of the song is Mina, Her Mom, and Chantal singing. I think it is some kind of spiritual song cause it sounds like they are saying Jesus, so it could be something people sing in church.

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

I was told that was a kids prayer song at the end.
Not sure how accurate that is though.

"little by little,
as we ???,
my Jesus,
he's teaching me,
teaching me"

I think the ??? is "age", but I'm not sure...

ta da... pretty good chance this is it with some modifications...

A prayer I found...

Little by Little

Little by little every day,
Little by little in every way,
Jesus is changing me (he's changing me)
Since I've made that turn-about face
I've been growing in his grace
Jesus is changing me.

some other versions.....

Little by little every day,
little by little in every way,
my Jesus is changing me.
Since I made a turn-about face,
I've been growing in his grace.
My Jesus is changing me.
He's changing me, my precious Jesus.
I'm not the same person that I used to be.

Sometimes it's slow growing,
but there's a knowing
that someday, perfect I will be.

----------------------
Little by little, every day
Little by little, in every way
Jesus is changing me

Once I made a turn about face
Now I'm growing in His grace
Jesus is changing me

He's changing me
My blessed Savior
I'm not the same person that I used to be
Though it's been slow going
But there's a knowing
That someday perfect I will be!

Hmm, for the Thief thing at the end I always thought it was:

Little by little
Every day
My Jesus
He's changing me
Changing me

Since I made a turn of faith
I've been growing in his grace
My Jesus...

it's true though, i mean wouldn't want to get a bad grade for spelling a 5 letter word wrong!!!

Me: "Hello, this is the topic of my presentation." *Hangs up a poster*

Teacher: "What the fuck? you spelt THIEF wrong. You're so failing this project!

Me: "but... but... I didn't even sta.."

Teacher: "Die, you sorry mistake of living human fecal matter!"

Yeah, I don't think it would be a good situation...
